I have been a member of US Bank for 20 + yrs now. I recently noticed they have been deducting $25 min amount every month from my account and charging me 21 percent interest.
The interesting part is I have over $15,000 in my account. Apparently several months ago I was overdrawn by .76 cents on a purchase. As a result they automatically deposit $200 in your account to cover it. Instead of withdrawing that amount when the accout has enough to cover it they keep it in a seperate account and charge rediculous amounts of interest on it unless you call in or manually specify you want to pay off this amount.
I did not sign up for overdraft protection and do not want it for this reason.I called into customer service and they were not helpful, in fact they were absolutely rude and disconcerning. I couldnt believe it. I called my other bank and they do not practice this unethical practice.
I am going to cancel my account and never do business with them again. I would recommend everyone who does business with them look very closely at your statements. Completely rediculous and unethical how this practice is done routinely even if you dont sing up for it.
Dont do business with them!!

I have to agree with the others here.
If you were overdrawn for months like you said, you should have been checking your account more often. Plus, if you were overdrawn and the bank loaned you money to cover your account, I'd think it would be obvious that they'd charge you interest. It is a loan, after all, albeit a small one. If you have $15K in your account, just pay this off and be done with it.

Ok, so they loaned you $200 to cover your overdraft and they're taking payments until it's paid off. So, where's the ripoff?

..perhaps we can discuss this report.
I would like to know more about this so I can warn others and suggest recourse if possible.
I have a few questions.
Was the .76 cent overdraft a debit card purchase?
How many months was this going on before you noticed it?
Do they have any written policy that states they will deposit $200.00 to cover overdrafts? If so..does it require signing up for it?
Did they hide this or did you not check your statement for months and notice the overdraft, the deposit, and the $25.00 a month charge?
