I went to work with usx on the condition of no overnight driving,my eyes can't do it anymore. i had a good talk with recruiter, diana villinova about this and she said ok. i have had 2 dispatchers jason and shelley simmons, whho also agreed to this. -we were in tunnel hill,ga to fuel and i had to have a drive tire replaced the night before. rocky in the shop said the trlr tire tht it was replaced with had to come off. told shelley and she went to her supervisor abt it. -her boss a.j. said if it wasn't d.o.t.,then no it could,'t be done-but the shop overuled on this-thy then pulled me off the load and put me on another one when i was finiished with the shop.
it was an overnight load-i walked in looking for shelley and was told by drvr liason tht we were gng to have a conference. i said fine. thy wouldn't let me even go to shelley to talk abt it-i looked at the fleet mgrs and asked which one is shelley and drvr liasan told me"we're not gng to tell u"-a.j. came in to the conference room and told me that i should have gotten it in writing. -i told him with my years of experience i've never had a problem before and word was good enough for me.
he brought in one other man and got human resources on the phone, her name is kelly. i was told that their company policy is hat you have to be available 24 hrs a day.didn't matter what the agreement was and she would talk to them abt this. they then proceeded to tell me i no longer had a job if i couldn't drive overnight. i asked them if i was fired and also asked them to take the truck to my home terminal of okc,ok. they wouldn' let me do it,would not even let me take the truck to a hotel to clean it out-a.j. tht the trk does not leave the yard-so i packed it up and had to have the shuttle take me,my dog and all our things to a hotel. i called pat who is a friend of mine of 25 years and he had to come all the way from salt lake city, utah to pick us up.
since then according to kelly in human resources they are calling it a voluntary quit. thy pulled the same thing on my friend pat over 10 years ago. i have a excellent reputation for ontime freight,no accidents. i have since filed for unemployment and so far no luck on jobs.

I can't see staying with a company, ANY company for 4 years if they are as bad as you say! I am currently considering going back to the company because during my time with them I had absolutely no problems. I also agree with the first rebuttal in saying that all of "us" are truck drivers and a company should not be bad mouthed due to the short comings of 1 person. I don't know of any companies that are going to make the stipulation that someone can only drive during daylight hrs. Sounds pretty rediculous to me.

I've been with Useless Xpress for four years, and been mad at them almost every single day. Recruiters tell you what you want to hear, because after all," you are money in the pocket" to them. They get you to orientation, and no matter what was discussed between you and your recruiter, (it is absolutely untrue) but they won't enforce what they really want you to do until you are skilled with sat com, and all the latest bells and whistles that are totally unnecessary. If that made any sense at all, then I haven't done my job right. (told you I've been with them four years) One shift doesn't know what the other is doing. I've had to shoot msgs till I was actually screaming at the keyboard (now it's "DRVRTECH") until I finally said "forget it" in a drivers own special way, and went to sleep. Don't let them push you to do anything that's unsafe. Shoot a msg that reads "Why don't you check with Safety, and ask them if I can run". Then put a pillow over satcom, or put the thing out the window! Dispatchers loose their minds at the thought of involving safety because what they want you to do is probably illegal, and their not really sure what truck you're in or what you've been doing. We all know that dispatchers, especially night or weekend, do not read the boards!! Whatcha Thank?

You are suppossed to be an OTR driver, being an otr driver sometimes you are required to drive at night. There are times when driving at night is required to service the customer. If you want a job driving only in the daylight hours you may need to look into a local job. Please don't blame everybody else for your short comings.
