I really should have known I was in deep poo when the installer for Wildblue (contract, not employee) told me his job was to connect the service and make sure the internet was available. When I made a comment about how slow the service seemed I was told to contact tech support.

Tech support? what Tech support? I have them on my speed dial I call so often. My service is running at 66kbps dn and 14kbps up. Like the other folks with this problem, the WB modem tested fine, but not on a "real" test site.

My service went out 17 times in 1 week. Of course, no credit. "Atmosphere" problem is blocking the signal. Huh??? Well, that was all I was going to take. I re-read my contract (luckily only 12 mos) and found I needed to give a 30 day notice. Called, emailed and snail mailed every department I could find to deliver that message. So far, no response.

I started checking on different services before my contract expired. I can't get DSL or cable where I live so I checked on Wireless, my only other alternative, after my neighbor told me about his new service. After seeing the speed on his, I ordered service from the same company. Local company, free service calls, 30 day "grace" period.

Wildblue should be charged with blatant False Advertising and Bait & Switch, which was outlawed by the Feds years ago. If you check your state's Attorney General's website, you should find a form for "Deceptive Trade Practices". These people need to be stopped.

Wildblue FAP - What a surprise!!

AUTHOR: Colleen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 10, 2007

Dear WildBlue Customer:

We understand how easy it is to lose track of how much data you may be uploading and downloading, especially if you have multiple users on your system. Therefore, we want to make sure you are aware of WildBlues Fair Access Policy (FAP), why WildBlue has these policies, how this policy affects you and how you can manage your account.

WildBlues Fair Access Policy is designed to ensure the consistent delivery of speeds to all customers. These standards are utilized by every satellite broadband provider.

WildBlue has notified us that you are approaching or that you have exceeded your usage threshold for the package that you are on. Per the conditions in your contract, if you have exceeded your package thresholds, WildBlue has reduced your speeds until your usage becomes within the normal range again. Your usage is measured by a 30 rolling day period.

Once your usage drops to below 80% of your threshold, WildBlue restores your previous high speed. We are providing directions for monitoring your usage via your AdminTool. Using the AdminTool will help you manage your account in many ways. Directions are provided at the bottom of this email.

Most of our customers have found that simply by monitoring their usage they are able to stay within their thresholds. Different plans offer different thresholds, so you may want to consider upgrading to a higher package to meet your usage needs. If this is a solution for you or if you are interested in upgrading your service package with us feel free to call 1-800-221-3474. WildBlue reserves the right to cancel your service if you continue to exceed their FAP, we encourage you to review the FAP details using the following link: http://www2.gotsky.com/fap_policy.php

Thank you for choosing GotSKY Unlimited as your WildBlue High-Speed Internet provider.

Directions for monitoring your usage:

You can monitor your usage by going to www.gotsky.com. Look in the lower right hand corner under My Account Click on the Login Now link. Click on Manage Account. Next you will be instructed to login, use the same username and password as your primary gotsky email account. Next Click on the Usage and Setting which is found on the left hand side navigation bar. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to view your upload and download usage.
