Windstream Paetec well known deceptive practices Cedar Rapids , Iowa

Windstream, formerly Paetec, formerly McLeod acquired my VIOP and internet service contract, so I became a Windstream customer by default.  When obsolescence dictated I move to another provider the new provider explained that Windstream will be very difficult to work with to get numbers ported, and indeed I had to file a complaint with the Public Service Commission in my state to even be able to start the process of the switch and get released from a contract that stated that they can change their terms at any time without notification.  When the numbers were finally successfully ported 5 months later, Windstream continued to invoice me for services claiming they weren’t notified I was leaving.  Really?  Filing a complaint with the PSC and porting all numbers wasn’t a clue, in addition to a letter on their letterhead commenting on my departure?

Apparently Windstream’s competitors are well aware of their ongoing shady business practices.  Go to your State governing bodies early and often, and if you are considering Windstream services do your due diligence on the web and get a good picture of how they deal with their paying prisoners, er….customers!
