I've been with Woodforest for about a year. My fiance was with me when I signed up for it, and he kept telling me he had a feeling this was going to be a rip off. I did it anyway, and I completely regret it.
It all comes down to the debit card. I'm always being put in the negative for the littlest things. My mother had surgery and my father worked every day from morning to night, and I had 3 brothers and sisters. I couldn't work because they needed help at my parent's home. I would get calls from the manager at my bank saying I had to put money in there from a job, if not I would get charged. Ummm.. I never got that memo when I signed papers?! I explained my situation to them and I tried my best to pay if off with what little I had.
I wanted to cancel my account with them, because I noticed something fishy was going on. But because I didn't have it for a certain amount of time, I was not allowed to. I moved two and a half hours away from my parents to be with my fiance while he's in college. I was going to cancel my account, but I still had one more month left until I could cancel my account. Well, we ended up not being able to find jobs and needed money, so my parents deposited $60 into my account. I used it all towards food that we needed in our home. I was $.99 in the hole, and now I'm $100 in the negative! Over $.99....... I got my first negative email saying I was negative $6. I was like okay, no big deal. We can fix it. Then the next day I had 2 over draft charges. Then it started adding up. I personally added everything up myself from day one of receiving the $60, and I noticed I was only $.99 in the negative.. so why was I told I was $6.57 in the negative? Then I started noticing that they charged me an extra $10 for nothing. It doesn't say anything about charging me it, but after me and my fiance added everything up over and over again, it all was correct.
Then, 2 days before the 8th day of me being in the negative, they tell me that if I don't pay it off in 2 days, I will be charged daily. I've tried talking to the manager and they keep saying "Well, you should take better track of your money". I wanted to scream at her! We're on food stamps, and living off scraps of money because of this bank, and I'm over it. I've had no luck in finding a job, so I figured they could give me two months or less to pay it off. ATLEAST. Nope, no one was cooperative.
If you're thinking about getting this bank, DON'T! It's the biggest rip off. They literally take every cent you have. There's so much more that I can say about this company, but there's just too much! Once I pay off all of the OD fees and mysterious fees that came from no where, I WILL close my account.

This is exactly what the wrold is comming to! First off I served my country for 20 years fighting in 2 wars for this country so fat, well fed. rich people like you born with a silver spoon up your Keister can log on here and put down poor people. You don't know what kind of situation she was in you have not had the honor of walking in her shoes so you should stuff more Cavier in your perverse little mouths and shut up! Untill you have to support a family on food stamps because of the economy has tanked and you got laid off from your job (not the one you got from a family member making 200,000 a year) then you should not even speak! The greatest man ever to walk this earth (Jesus Christ) did not need you comments about him being poor when he was alive and i'm sure this poor girl does not need your un-educated comments now. Taxpayer? I am a VETERAN! untill you pick up a weapon and leave your family behind and go stand a wall to protect people that treat you like crap don't even speak.. yes just hold down your head in shame.

I'm just curious, how old are you?
If you have no money to begin with, and are clueless as to how to manage the little money you do have, you have no business getting a bank account.
Just a tip for ya - Keep a check register, balance it every day, and stop using the debit card.
It's customary that if you're account is in the negative, you WILL be asked to make a deposit. It's in your terms & conditions. Go figure.
You say that your parents gave you $60 for food. What were the food stamps used for? Why were you out of food already? Have you applied at fast food places? Walmart? Have you held a yard sale? Can you babysit? There are so many ways to earn a pay check. Stop pulling the "we're on food stamps" card & grow up.
It's also customary that if you are in the negative for a certain amount of time, the bank will start assessing your account fees. Again, it's in your terms & conditions.

First she can't work to pay them cause her mother had surgery and her father worked every day and she HAD 3 brothers and sisters and "they" needed help at her parent's home. She would get calls from her bank's manager saying saying she had to put money in the bank, if not she would get charged. What bank calls it's customers? She didn't get THAT memo. THEN, she moves 2.5 hours away from her parents to be with her "fiance" AT COLLEGE. (I guess her parents didn't need her help anymore). WE couldn't find jobs, so mommy and daddy put $60 into her account, so THEY could eat. .......We're on food stamps. Lord, this just keeps getting worse. Why are you togeather? Shacking up? Why are you not living at home. Working? Why is he in college? Why isn't he working? Why am I, a tax payer, supporting a couple of morons using food stamps? There is so much more I could say. God bless the parents.
