I purchased a Grand Am GT on 11-19-01. At the time of purchase I was told of this "great warranty" I could purchase. I was told that they would cover everything on the contract and in a timely fashion...I've been without a vehicle for 2 months now and I do not see an end in sight.

It all started with my car loosing power, dying, and knocking. I pulled off the road. It was late in the day so I waited till morning to call the 'only' place near my home that will work with a wynn's warranty. They picked it up and called me a couple of days later to tell me that Wynn's was going to rebuild the bottom part of my motor (crank rebuild kit).

I asked them about possible other damage to the vehicle and they told me that that was the only thing that Wynn's said they would pay for. I was given a rental car for 4 days out of 3 weeks prior to getting my car "fixed."

When they called and told me the car was ready I went to pick it up. The car didn't make it 1/16 of a mile before it had lost power again, died, and was making another noking noise. I have now been waiting for my car for 3 weeks. I looked into putting a rebuilt motor in my vehicle that would be gaurenteed for one year and it would only cost $300.00 more than what the price was for the crank kit and I would have to pay the difference.

Now I have been without my vehicle an extra 3 weeks, so far and it's going to cost them extra and the only thing I heard was that they didn't want to put a motor in the car because they didn't feel they should have to put all this money into a car that has 100,000 miles.

I would have only had to be without a car for about 2 weeks total if they would have put a rebuilt motor in my car. Instead I have almost lost my job and I have to bum rides to places like the grocery store. It would also have saved them a considerable amount of money but the would rather RIG a car so it will make it past it's warranty and then blow and then they aren't responsible.

Warranty companies can't control repair facilities mistakes

AUTHOR: Ed - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 20, 2003

Wynn's can not be responsible for misdiagnosis by the repair facility of your choice. You didn't state what went wrong with the first repair? If the repair facility diagnosed correctly and repaired it correctly perhaps you wouldn't have had the second problem?

Second the repair facility on the first repair could have requested the authorized $$$ on the first repair to be credited to a used engine and Wynn's would have been fine with that. Yes, you would have been responsible for the difference ($300) per your letter but you would have had a used engine installed. But we can not control your repair facility or you could have requested to.

Per your contract it explains your rental reimbusement coverage.
