MERRICK BANK intrest rate scam new york , New York

In May 2009 I cancelled my Merrick Bank credit card. At that time they were changing the periodic intrest rate and i did not agree to the new intrest, Upon contacting the Bank they advised they could not reduce the fee and I insstructed them to close the account at that time. I had never been late and did not agree that any intrest rate increase was acceptible and closed the account.    

I continued to pay my monthly bill on time and was shocked to see that they increase the intrest rate on my closed account. The increase went from 19.9 to 32.2 percent. I felt this was more than likely an error and contacted the Bank. I was shocked to find they felt it was perfectly accptible to increase this rate at any time and that i needed to opt out. I asked how do you opt out of a closed and the response was we send you notice. Again this is a closed accoutn why would I opt out of something I already cloased. Watch this bank there bad news
