Open Letter & Complaint to PayPal CEO Scott Thompson


 


Im writing in regards to a purchase made on 12-3-2009 and paid via PayPal.  The item, a leather hood, didnt arrive until 1-9-2010 after I filed a dispute for non-receipt.


 


Once the item did arrive, it was not the same leather hood pictured with the description.  For $80.29, I received a cheap rendition and notified PayPal immediately that the seller used a Bait and Switch tactic.  


 


PayPal never responded to my 4 emails to include a request for a fax number to send pictures since PayPal does not allow email attachments.  And I was never notified that the case was prematurely closed until I accessed the website to purchase a shipping label. 


 


PayPal Buyer Protection Plan clearly states coverage for items that are not significantly as described.  Why the case was closed and I was told that the merchantability of products is not covered afterwards is incomprehensible.  With over a decade of conducting business with PayPal to include the purchase of shipping labels and payment of PayPal fees as an eBay seller, I strongly believe the case deserves to be reopened, the item returned to the seller unused and at my expense and the $80.29 refunded.  This is not a case of buyer remorse.  The seller (Peter)used a Bait and Switch tactic and he will not respond to my request for a refund.   


 


 I have a long standing record with both eBay and PayPal of providing my customers with honest descriptions with actual pictures, fast shipping and exceptional customer service in my eBay store that has reflected positively on the eBay/PayPal corporation for numerous years. 


 


Mr. Thompson needs to step-up and extend the amount of courtesy to me.  Otherwise the Buyer Protection Program is a fraudulent scam perpetrated on all costumers that use PayPal.


 


The next step is to file a complaint with SC Department of Consumer Affairs.


 


To readers in general, I will update you on PayPal's response or lack there of.

This mask is used for Bondage Sex, ans S&M.   I would have been too embarrassed to include a picture. 

I hope the people you use that mask on, are consensual sex partners!!!

Dearest Friends,

It is with a happy heart that I have the most excellent news to share!!!  I just received an email from PayPal's corporate office about my complaint.

Although PayPal does not offer complete Buyer Protection for items purchased off eBay, PayPal has made a one time exception and covered the loss I incurred by the underhanded seller.  In 2-3 days, the money will be restored to my account.

Thank you Mr. Scott Thompson for the lightening fast response and generous resolution.  It was more than I expected.  And a special thanks to Ms. Brittany who contacted me about the refund.  Its most uncommon for a company to cover a loss created by a third party let alone so quickly.  IMO, Mr. Thompson and Brittany are absolute assets to the eBay empire bar none.
