I am filing this complaint due to PayPal’s mishandling of two disputes initiated by a buyer named Kristy. I am a spiritual practitioner who provided the full scope of services the buyer paid for. Kristy was satisfied at the time but later initiated two chargebacks, not due to any lack of service but because I chose to cease contact with her after harassment and boundary violations. I even filed a report with my local police department due to her ongoing behavior.
Due to her harassment, I permanently closed my PayPal account. Prior to the claim deadlines, I contacted PayPal by phone and was assured by a representative that my documentation would be uploaded on my behalf. She located the files I had submitted under my current PayPal account and said she escalated the claims internally. She also told me Kristy’s behavior would be investigated and could result in her account being permanently closed. I was told to watch my email for updates.
Despite following all instructions, I later received an email that one of the claims had been closed in Kristy’s favor. When I called back, no one could locate the documentation or even access the closed account. I was passed between multiple representatives, including a supervisor, who told me that because the account was closed, nothing more could be done—even though I was told otherwise previously. I was also told I could not appeal the case due to the closure.
This is a major breach in communication and accountability. The decision was made without reviewing my uploaded evidence. It is unacceptable that PayPal allows a buyer to manipulate the system this way, especially when services were fully delivered and the seller is then penalized. I am seeking an immediate reopening of the case, review of my documentation, and full dismissal of any financial responsibility assigned to me. PayPal should also take steps to investigate this buyer for potential fraud and misuse of their platform.
