I am a regular customer at Apple Store and had purchased their gift cards many times without issues. On 4/30, I got a card for $1000 and on 5/1, I tried to redeem it and learnt the code was already redeemed. I contacted their support center and filed a claim by submitting copy of the receipt and card. I also called my bank to file a dispute but was told the charge hasn't been posted in my acct yet. I did call my bank 4 days later and filed a dispute. I was distraught and upset as $1000 was a large sum of money for a senior citizen. I contacted support center 2x in late afternoon. Both advisers told me they could see which acct money was redeemed to, when it happened in US and that the money was all spent. They all said due to their privacy policy, they could not give me any info on the acct or person who redeemed my code. I then sent an email to Tim Cook, Apple's CEO and hoped his office would intervene since his store sold me a gift card that was either hacked or compromised. Mr Martinez from the corporate executive relation contacted me and informed me he will f/u on my case. On 5/13, there was a decision but the adviser, Tammy informed me, she needed more time to investigate when the decision "redeem funds" didn't make sense. When she didn't call me, I called and spoke to another adviser, Alfred who discovered I unknowingly blocked Apple and he helped me unblocked. He also helped me resubmit my claim since he explained it was sent as a scam when it should be billing error. He sent me an email and told me to call him as he will keep my case. On 5/27, there was an update and I emailed Alfred 2x but no response. I also left him a voice mail. On 5/28, I emailed Alfred again thinking he was off the previous day. While I waited, Mr Martinez called me and informed me of their decision. He said the code was redeemed and there is no refund. I disagreed with his decision because they could see who stole my code and redeemed it. I went straight home after I got the card and only his workers touched the card. Apple didn't try to help me as I'm the victim. I don't know how they store their gift cards or where they put them or who touched them but they sold me a card with a stolen code on 4/30 and I was robbed due to their neglect to safe keep their gift cards. Apple needs to assume their responsibility as a merchant but they failed to protect consumers who trusted their products. The gift card I purchased was hacked, useless and Apple cheated me $1000. It should be noted that Mr Martinez warned me that if I send any dissatisfaction mail, they can ignore it and not respond. There are many unsatisfied customers from what I read online and everyone needs to stop buying Apple products, until this greedy company takes responsibility when their products failed to meet expectations. Do file a dispute with the banks and I encourage all banks don't approve the transactions. When Apple doesn't receive payments from credit cards, maybe the company will work with the consumers in fighting fraud and scams.
