21st Century Auto Group Unwarranted CHARGES, Terrible Communication, Deceptive Business Practice, Unethical through and through Brooklyn, New York

21st Century Auto Group in Springfield, NJ is a sham of a business. My brother is 20 years old and just graduated from school. Has been diligently saving his money for an Acura TL S-type. He finally found a beautiful car, a 2008, with under 7,000 miles. He was exstatic.

My father went with him to view the car, the got the price down from $32,900 to $29,000 flat. The dealer said they would waive the $3,500 prep fee >

Needless to say my father and brother left, I thought this was a mistake because the offer sounded good. A few days later my brother and mother went back to the dealer. I had a last minute obligation and could not go.

This time the dealer dropped the price to only $29,500, plus $350 for prep, $200 for documnentaion fee, and $150 for motor vehicle, plus tax obviously.
Prep on a used car generally includes a detail, floor mats (if none are in the vehicle), a full tank of gas, and possibly an oil change. These numbers are sometimes added to the cost of the car, but let me continue.

I asked to speak with the gentleman helping my brother via telephone. He claimed the $350 being charged as prep was for destination! Destination is what new car dealers pay for the vehicle to arrive from the manufacturing plant. This charge applies only to New Cars, look at a window sticker, next time you are in a dealer! As I said I know what I am talking about!

This vehicle was not serviced or had any maintenance performed on the car, it sat in the showroom, and yet he wanted to charge $350 for essentially nothing! I thanked him for helping my family, just to be cordial, and asked him to go over the final prices with me. At this point he claimed they were selling him the car for $30,200!!! What!!! He jacked up the price $700 why, cause they are T-H-U-G-S!

My brother got insurance, left a deposit, and took the car home, with less than a 1/4 of a tank of gas! Yesterday they went back to do the paperwork, things only got worse! I have more research to do on the information they provided my mother with about the financing, but my poor brother is paying 12.79% interest on a $20,000 loan, he left a large cash deposit!

This business is essentially what people would refer to as "A Nightmare Used Car Dealer" They are a Sham, A Joke, and I wouldn't wish anyone this experience! With the economy in shambles, it is a disgrace these individulas even have a license to sell automobiles!!! They have another location in Brooklyn, NY, 2615 East 17th St. Phone:347-587-3920.

Oh yes, by the way, he paid $350 for prep, and he has a problem with the window, and the CD player is displaying a fault code, to contact his local Acura dealer, so much for PREP!
