I dropped my 6 month old iphone, and it stopped working. There are no signs of exterior damage as it was in a nice, padded case. Wasn't sure if my iphone would be covered under warranty, but thought I'd try the genius bar and see if they could repair it.

The 'genius' assigned to me (female, didn't catch her name) peered into the iphone with her flashlight and proclaimed that my iphone had suffered water damage (what?!) and could not be repaired under warranty.

She also told me it would have had to have been 'completely submerged' for the moisture indicator to appear.

I was rudely dismissed and never even got to say anything. She didn't ask me any questions, just told me my iphone had water damage.

I did not get my iphone wet. I am not lying.

What a rip off.

I will not be getting another iphone, as I have no idea caused the moisture indicator to turn red and don't want to take a chance on it happening again.

Water damage

Is undeniable. An indicator goes off inside. Look for yourself. There are no questions to be asked when that goes off.

Also, the phone wouldn't have been under warranty anyway since the drop caused the issue :P

And just because it wasn't submerged doesn't mean it hasn't been damaged by humidity or sweat.

It's not really a ripoff when that is stated in their legal terms that you agree to when setting up the phone.
