Subject: Appraisal Group of America refuses to refund money for services NOT rendered.
I would like to file a formal complaint against Auto Appraisals Group of America based out of Portland Oregon.
1. While deployed to Southern Iraq in 2008, my vehicle was involved in a total loss on April 15th while I was deployed. In hopes of getting assistance in my insurance settlement, I hired the services of Appraisal Group of America via telephone calls from Forwarding Operating Base Camp Bucca, Iraq.
2. Appraisal Group of America states the following services on their website:
http://www.appraisalgroupofamerica.com/customerService.htm
? We can inspect your vehicle in any of the 50 U.S. states at your convenience. (They did not provide a physical appraisal because they charged more for this)
? We will call the body shop and get your repair order and review the repair estimate line-by-line with you (Total Loss, Not applicable)
? Analyze the type and extent of the damage and discuss the information with you.
? Provide an 8 to 10-page report to you and your insurance company.
? Call to verify your insurance company received the appraisal.
? Provide ongoing assistance with the claim through the entire process.
(NONE OF THESE SERVICES WERE RENDERED TO ME)
(A) Monica Fisher whom I have hired, DID NOT speak or communicate to my adjuster/insurance with USAA and I have written proof that USAA never had any contact with Appraisal Group of America.
3. Appraisal Group of America did send me a rough draft of their appraisal that was only WEB Based and was not a physical appraisal. I received a final draft with my changes and editing almost 2 weeks later.
THEY COULDN'T EVEN ADD THE FIGURES CORRECTLY.
4. I contacted Monica Fisher on May 20th stating my disappointment that I had heard nothing from them for over 2 weeks and also complained that USAA claimed to not have ever heard from their company.
5. After having to settle my own claim after so long and without the assistance of Appraisal Group of America, I tried to get my money back because the ONLY service they provided was emailing me a random price sampling of similar vehicles from the internet that was formatted into a letter. NO OTHER SERVICES WERE RENDERED.
6. In their rebuttal, their company boldly claimed that my adjuster stated that I received more money from USAA simply because of their company's work/appraisal. This was a complete lie, proven by the statement from my insurance company. I am hurt by this statement because I did all the work to reach a settlement while my insurance company never spoke to this 3rd party appraisal company.
7. I paid a hefty price of $595.00 for their services of helping me with the services stated above. I have been lied to constantly as they claimed to negotiate for my insurance settlement in which they DID NOT.

I feel your pain!

I am also dealing with AGA and this all sounds too familiar! I spent $300 of my hard earned money to confirm the validity of these complaints. Sure, they may deal with hundreds of appraisals a month, but how many people actually stand up and complain? If more people were to complain, as I have, this company would have long been out of business, believe that!

Appraisal Group of America is a RIP OFF!!!

Mr. Fisher perhaps you are unaware of the AGA method of business. When signing up with your company...Monica Fisher asks you IF you have digital pictures of the accident. Therefore "speeding-up" the process...Apparently AGA is overbooked because Monica is never readily available and the appraiser on the case is "allegedly" pouring sweat over your case....My advice to anyone is to stay away from this company and if they do give you a hard time report them IMMEDIATELY to not only the Attorney General but the Better Business Bureau...and the Insurance Commissioner. Appraisal Group of America does NOTHING that you can't alreayd do for yourself.
And Monica when you send refunds...writing my name sloppy and putting the stamp in the middle is just childish...grow up and stop being immature.

Great Company-Many claims with them and very happy

I have used Appraisal Group of America many times over the last few years and I am very happy with them. Each time I have turned in a claim to the insurance company I received thousands of dollars then I was originally offered. I have had 2 diminished value claims with them and one total loss.. I have teenagers so they are always getting in wrecks. I have told my neighbors about them as well. I think the customer service is top rate. I tell all my friends about them.. God Bless them. Mr. Stevens

Mr Yu will be refunded his fee and Mr Yu mis-represented the facts of the claim
AUTHOR: Terry - (U.S.A.)

As the president of AGA, we are very upset regarding Mr Yu's report. He will be refunded his money but not due to the fact that AGA did anything wrong. We emailed Mr. Yu an update stating we were working with the supervisor regarding his claim and he called the supervisor and settled the claim after we had faxed over the report and spoke with the supervisor. He also settled the claim for more money then he was intially offered. To any prospective client, we can forward this email to them as well as we are working on getting a letter from Ken Poole, a supervisor at USAA documenting the events in the file and that Terry Fisher did speak with the supervisor and the fact that Mr. Yu did settle the claim for more money then the inital settement due to our appraisal. We spent hours working on Mr. Yu's claim and we can provide evidence of this as well. We have thousands of happy clients and our coporate attorney has advised us to give Mr Yu his fee back.
Mr. Yu is not representing the following information honestly though:
1.Mr. Yu did not want to pay the fee for us to inspect his vehilce and instead sent AGA digital picutures, which we can forward to any client.
2.Mr Yu's letter stated Monica Fisher did not speak with USAA but in fact Terry Fisher, the appraiser spoke with USAA. USAA has sent AGA documentation showing this
3. USAA also stated they also had problems with Mr. Yu.
