I paid extra to my At&t Universal Card account to help pay off my debt quicker. Today I recieved a bill telling me that my payment was late and my account is now "not in good standing" so they will not work with me. The reason my payment is said to be late is because I paid too early. The cut off of the billing cylce was 3/20. The new cycle began 3/21. My payment was applied 3/20, so there is no payment applied for the new billing cycle.

Monthly payments

AUTHOR: Aafes - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 23, 2006

Almost EVERY credit card requires one payment in each billing cycle. If your monthly payment is only 50.00 on a $5000.00 line of credit, even if you send 3 $1000.00 payments in one billing cycle you still owe a minimum payment in the next billing cycle. Car loans and mortgages are the same in almost all cases.

The only benefit you receive from sending an extra payment is that there is less of a balance to calculate interest on for the next billing cycle.

They are right, you needed to make a payment and it is almost certain your statement indicated a payment due.
