First of all their grade I would give them is a solid “F”…and NOT one star but ZERO!!!

 

I recently made the BIGGEST mistake in placing an order for the “European Dish Garden” for Mothers Day utilizing guess who “Ava’s Flowers”!!! I called Ava’s Flowers on Wednesday May 7,2014 to place my order for a very large (premium level) planted basket for my mom for Mothers Day. I asked the girl if they definitely had ALL of the plants available including the African Violets that I paid EXTRA for. She said yes and I told her I wanted it delivered on Saturday May 10, 2014. She said It would be delivered sometime in the afternoon. I received an email a little after 9 AM on Saturday morning and wasn’t able to read the email till 6:45 PM. It says unfortunately we were not able to deliver the plants as promised today. We will deliver the plants as soon as possible with an upgrade. And they have the gall to offer me a 15% discount on my next order.

 

I’m thinking their isn’t going to be another future order since they royally messed this order up and then didn’t deliver it on the requested delivery date. After reading that email I was VERY upset and felt like they didn’t care that the plants were not delivered the day before Mothers Day. I call Ava’s Flowers to inquire on the status of the plants and why they were not delivered. The woman says that the African violets were not in good shape so they are awaiting a fresh delivery on Sunday evening and that they will deliver them on Monday 12, 2014 and one whole day AFTER mother’s day mind you!!! Remember I placed this order on the 7th four days in advance for delivery on the 10th and now its being delivered on the 12th!!! This just seems really unprofessional, shady, and ridiculous for a flower company to still be in business after 4 decades and operating in this way! And to think its ok to treat your customers like this is completely and utterly LUDICROUS!!!

 

On Monday 12,2014 the plants are NOT hand delivered but rather they were shipped via UPS. The plant arrangement that my mom received was first off in a smaller basket not as big as in the picture on their website. Secondly the plants are NOT measuring a whole foot above the basket handle but just two inches over the handle if that. Thirdly the whole right side and some of the middle was empty and completely devoid of any plants. You could see thru the basket from the front. In the pic on their site you are not supposed to be able to see thru the plant. Fourthly the African violets that I paid EXTRA money for were NOT in the basket with the rest of the plants. I’m like wtf and are you kidding me. Fifthly  inside the box was dirt all over in the bow and ingrained into the basket and basket handle. My mom had to clean up this plant and couldn’t water it the way it was assembled.  Sixthly a plant with large leaves was smashed down and a Kelanchoe plant was squeezed into the arrangement in way too small of a basket.

 

I did btw ask for a large basket and that was indeed not what was used. I have the pics to prove it! I’m very disappointed and saddened that these people ruined my mom’s special day!!! So I place my third phone call since last Wednesday on Monday afternoon after delivery. The first woman I have to tell her 7 times to please put her manager on the phone. Rachel the manager talks to me and apologizes. After explaining to her what had transpired since last Wednesday with this order she agrees to replace the whole plant arrangement and also add in the 6 extra African violets I had paid extra for and didn’t receive. She placed me on hold in order to talk to her distributor for the new order of African violets. She comes back and I tell her that I want her to call my cell tomorrow (the 13th) and update me on the status of this plant arrangement and delivery.

 

It is now Tuesday  the 13th and still NO communication or update from the manager Rachel as of 5PM. This basket of plants was supposed to be delivered this morning. Around 5:50 PM the planted basket finally shows up. I get a call from my mom that she is happy with it. The only problem was that I had paid extra for 6 African Violets and their were only 3 in the basket. This arrangement of plants was what should have been delivered in the first place. And btw this time It was indeed hand delivered instead of being shipped UPS. I thought that Ava’s Flowers was a small family run flower shop and that I would be taken care of very well. This was however not the case at all. In my humble opinion if you want attention to detail, stellar customer service, and your plants/flowers delivered on time DON’T go with Ava’s Flowers. Instead do your due diligence in researching a top notch flower shop before you place an order with these people.

 

And don’t base your decision on accepting/believing what the customer testimonials on their site is saying. Or the fact that they have been in business for 4 decades is enough to convince you that your order will be handled in a professional and timely manner!!!  Obviously this flower shop has a plethora of issues that still need to be addressed as in MY above mentioned personal experience however after being in business for 4 decades somehow it may seem like an impossible task for them going forward. Kind of like the “too little too late scenario” or The “same sh** different day” mantra!!! They did finally deliver an appropriate basket of plants today as well as deducting $10 off of my order. My original order cost me $87.93 and after the deduction was $77.93. However I don’t know if too many other customers will want to have to go thru this horrific process with them in ordering plants/flowers. If you ask me I will NOT be ordering anything further from Ava’s Flowers nor will any of my friends or family!!! Buyer Beware when dealing with Ava’s Flowers!!!    Sincerely, Ms. Anonymous
