On 4/23/2010 I purchased a Callaway-uPro Golf GPS for $299.99 from Bestbuy.com. There was a $100 mail in rebate offered from Callaway for qualifying store purchases.I did a click to call from the bestbuy.com website and spoke to Brittney on 4/23/2010 at 10:13AM from Estara Inc who verified Best Buy Online as a qualified vendor of the Callaway-uPro Golf GPS over a recorded conversation. Her last words to me were To purchase the item you will have a chance to actually fill in the paper to actually to actually send in for the mail in rebate.

3 months later I got a could not honor rebate post card from the rebate clearing house that said Best Buy was not a qualifying vendor.I wrote an email to the rebate clearing house and called 1-888-BEST-BUY where I was told a ticket would be created and I would be contacted over email. No response from either.I took my paperwork and recording into the Best Buy location that the GPS was shipped to and the representative told me I had to deal with 1-888-BEST-BUY.I had the store call the 888 number and the representative from the 888 number told me there was no record of the call on 4/23/2010 (even though I have date, time and recorded conversation with Brittney) and I was well past the 30 day return policy so there was nothing they could do.

I thought I was protecting myself by purchasing from a Big Box website and shipping site to store but apparently online purchases do not qualify for local store customer service.

..if what Crystal posted if true, it pretty much sums it up. Seems the OP did not like what they read on the website regarding the offer and tried to skirt around it... and failed.

Such is life.

Best Buy does not participate.

AUTHOR: Crystal - (U.S.A.)

If you look through the terms of this offer which are still on Callaway's site, they still specifically list Best Buy and Best Buy.com as a retailer that does not participate in rebates. Here are the terms: "Not all retailers selling Callaway uPro GPS devices are participating in this Promotion. It is each participants responsibility to verify if a particular retailer is a Qualifying Location."

... "Non-Qualifying Purchases also include, among others"..." (vii) Purchases made at Best Buy locations or Best Buy websites".

I have some questions..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, January 14, 2011

It seems this rebate was for "qualified store purchases"..but that it was purchased online..then it is stated you spoke to someone from "Estara Inc" who in so many words told you there is a "chance" you can get the rebate.

So if anything, shouldn't this report be lodged against Estara Inc for telling you there would be a "chance"... but you never got it? I guess anyone would be a bit upset if a "chance" does not work out in their favor?

I don't know what to suggest but perhaps if an offer clearly states "store purchase", the best bet would be to hoist yourself up off your arse and physically go to the store to qualify for the offer without doubts??

I understand that this "Brittany" verified BestBuy "ONLINE" as a qualified vendor..but the offer states "store" purchases to qualify for the rebate..all word play. If you were deceived at all..it was this Brittany. But if you did not have her permission to record her, then it is inadmissible in court and you have no recourse. Can you return the Golf GPS? Whining here won't do any good at all, to wit.

Dumb monkey? Underestimating me will be your most serious mistake.

And, NO, I never post with aliases.

I have always used the same name, MINE, for the past 5 years posting here.

But YOU post under "Gee I Wonder". That is so gay. What does it mean? Do you wonder who your daddy is? Is fathers day the most confusing day of the year for you? Or for your illigitimate kids?

Get a life loser.

Best buy sucks!

AUTHOR: Inspector - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, January 13, 2011

But, if I read your post correctly "Her last words to me were 'To purchase the item you will have a chance to actually fill in the paper to actually send in for the mail in rebate'"

She did not say they would give you a rebate.
