I have also been ripped off by the phony Calypso 14 day holiday prize. I was sceptical, but they had a good response to every question I asked. The bank seems to say it's a contract between myself and the company. But how they don't flag companies that have been reported as dodgy is beyond me. Esp since 2005. Clearly this has been going on a while. They shouldn't be able make transactions after being labeled frauds. It's being investigated, but I'd like to give them helpful info for them to track the people responsible.

Can anyone help me... Whats the contact info for the bogus Calypso people? I've asked for a refund. But would like to report them to the police, I'd like to have real contact info that has worked before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess if things sound too good to be true, it probably isn't. But I've never won a prize before, and I thought it could be a cheap option for my honeymoon. Dam dam dam!

I just got back from Calypso Cay Way an hour ago. BEWEARE!!!!!

AUTHOR: Runfromdm - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, June 30, 2011

I bought the "Orlando, Daytona, Bahama Cruise" package. I just got back from the initial Orlando vacation. They put my boyfriend and I up in the Country Inn Suites (next door/attached to Calyspo) Upon arriving, you have to check in at the Calypso front desk. The guy who checked me in told me that I was very lucky I got to stay in the Country Inn. He said that everyone begs to be transferred there from Calypso. He also added to NOT buy whatever they were going to try to sell me because it's garbage. I laughed and went on to my hotel. Once I got there they informed me that they are over booked and that I was getting upgraded to a 2 room suite. VERY excited, we rushed up to our room. DISGUSTING. It was old, dirty, dingy, stinky, filth. Not to mention the hotel was FULL of ghetto people. We immedietly went to the front desk to let them know we were leaving and getting our own hotel. The front desk lady said that if I didn't stay the day before the timeshare presentation and the day after in the hotel, I would be charged $350 for the presentation and the entire hotel bill. So we left and got our own hotel but didn't check out. The presentation was bull. It's not timeshare, they say it's a "membership". After 3 1/2 HOURS, I layed out on paper their scam right in front of them. They signed my free vacation get away and sent me on my way immedietly before any of the other guests there heard me. Once they signed the document, I realized before you get your free airline tickets and hotel to our tropical destination, you have to attend another timeshare meeting in another one of the locations in Florida. I couldn't book that right away and get it over with because they make you give them a 45day advance notice. I was complaining about it in the lobby when a woman came up to tell me I would never recieve the free airline tickets and hotel. That no matter what dates you give the company for your travel, they say it's unavailable. Then your 1 year expires and they try to get you to pay new fees to extend the vacation then do the whole scam all over again. When I checked out of the hotel, it cost me $135 in taxes and fees. When I returned my car rental, I was charged $189 in taxes and fees with my $15 upgrade a day so I didn't have to drive the Kia Rio that was offered to me. All in all, I paid $500 for the "vacation package" that ended up being money in the toilet and a huge waste of time. If you're still under the 30days, I would advise you to get a refund immedietly.
Email me if anyone has any questions. I would love to save you from this place. (((ROR redacted)))

#5 UPDATE Employee

Pay attention please!

AUTHOR: Kelly - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 23, 2008

Ok,I am an employee of this firm, who sold you the vacation package..FYI,at no point in the script do we say the words "you have won" or "this is a prize" as so not to mislead the consumer. At the begging of the call we do say," you have been selected to recieve." Does that mean you are getting a free trip? The only part of the script where you hear the word "free" is the part about how if you pay $249 for the first 2 travelers the 3rd and 4th traveler will come for free.

However, when you go into the 3rd party verification(which is a recorded call),you agree to all the terms and conditions of the package. That call is your last chance to review the package details and hang up if you are not satisfied with them..We go over the package at least three times..We expect that you are an educated consumer, over the age of 21,who is able to make a responsible descision. If you are not satisfied after reviewing the package there is a 30 day cancellation time frame..Which is honored..I have seen it happen..

Further more, I will say this in response to a post by a former employee, who said very incriminating things about Mike Flynn..Mike Flynn is not the monster that you have made him out to be..He is a very motivational person and inspiration to me and fellow co-workers..Anyone who could say these things about him has not a clue what this man has done for his employees or his community..He is one of the most charitable people that I know.He has provided Christmas's to families that otherwise would'nt see a thing under the tree, holiday dinners, payed utility bills for people in need, and most of all given moral support to all of us when we need it..

I am sorry that you, the "educated consumer" felt like you were being lied to..I hope in the future that when someone calls and offers you a good deal over the phone that you pay attention to what they are offering a little more closely. I will close with this,If you were under the assumption that the trip was a free prize, then why did you pull out your credit card and pay for it..Why didn't you just hang up when you realized it wasn't free?Let me answer that for you...because it was and still is a fabulous deal!!!! Thank you for your time!

I have been unable to contact Calypso Cay by phone but I have contacted them by email customerservice@calypsocay.com they have told me that if I return the vacation package they sent with a letter of cancellation they will refund my money. I have done this and await my refund.

Offcourse, I videoed what went back in the package and registered the parcel in case they dispute what was returned and when they received it. If this is unsuccessful, I will request my bank charge-back my visa card this must be done ASAP but in any case within 60 days.

I will, as you can, also lodge complaints with Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services who have been very helpful greenjp@doacs.state.fl.us

PS. I have also requested that RipOff Report upgrade Calpso Cay to their top ripp offs list on their home page, perhaps you could also ask them.
