Data Line Credit ripoff Huntington Beach California

I sold my car to a private party and mailed the release of liability to DMV months before it got impounded since the driver had an expired license. In December 2003, I received a letter from Data Line Credit Corp. stating that I am liable for all the towing fees and interest which amounted to $767.29.

Therefore, I sent a letter to Data Line Credit along with the copies of release of liability stating that I do not own this car anymore and I had mailed the release of liability to DMV. Once I called the Data Line to verify about my written response to their letter, the guy who wrote me the letter was very abusive and said that according to the state of California law the release of liability is not relevant.
