I purchased a system from Dell some 4.5 yrs ago, with a warranty period of 5 yrs, so they said at the time of purchase. System was quite expensive 1,200.00 to 1,500.00. The purchase included a monitor as well flat panel, that died two years ago, burned out screen. The Computer systemaically had problems, one thing or another, but I could and did work around them for some time, with minimal help from their support as their support serves no effective purpose because they are all Indian from India/Pakistan and cannot speak clear english.
Anyway I plugged along, after having returned the first couple on the original order, each system has a Svc Tag No. unique supposedly to each pc, as it turns out, somehow Dell got the numbers all mixed up, nothing corresponded correctly to the correct equip, with the returns and all at the beginning, all this unknown to me right? Until lately when the Motherboard, which I found out is specifically designed to blow out after a speciffied period of time, mine happen to last a couple of months passed the warranty period of 5 yrs.
The Capacitors are designed with etchings on the top of them,(thinner metal) allowing them to blow much easier when the computer is multi tasking, a function that is synonomous with computers, they heat up and blow rendering the Motherboard unrepairable at a cost that is worth it, system become junk disposable Contacted Dell Computers, by letter to Executive Office HQ's addressed to Michael Dell. Complaining of the design flaw incorporated in their products, and requested the system be replaced based on the circumstances of the event. After weeks of rangling with first an Indian from India, then taken over by Maria Cruz, rangling over the mix up of the svc tag no's involved in this fiasco, we have gotten nowhere, only to discover that they had sold one or both of the returned defective units to other customers.
It is against the law to sell a used anything as new when it has been used slightly by another previously. They can only be sold as refurbs. Dell apparently sells them as NEW, when they have a refurb site on the web that they also sell from. From this experience this Company Dell Computers has defrauded me and probably many others by their underhanded business practices and their sub standard inferior products and distribution. To any Business that is intrested in purchasing Computers Iwould NOT recommend Dell Computers by any stretch of the imagination, as you will be buying sub standard equipment meant to perform a superior job function which it will not. Stay Away From Dell Computers.
