On 3 Apr 2010, I ordered a Hot Tub from Direct To Home Appliances, AKA Choose Hot Tubs Direct.  Delivery was to be in 12-16 weeks.  It took several attempts to get ahold of customer services once that date came and went.  An August delivery became September, September became October, October became December.

I demanded a full refund.  Under the rules established by the Federal Trade Commission, they are required to offer the full refund if they can't deliver within 30 days.  They did not nor did they meet the notification requirements of the rules.  Every time the offered a new date, I demanded a refund.  Dec became Jan, Jan became Feb, Feb became Apr.  In Feb they said the date moved because the factory shut down for the winter and only recently resumed operations.  I checked on this and that was not true.  The factory did not shut down.

About two weeks ago they sent an "inspection report".  I could have produced this with simple surfing and grabbing pictures off the internet.  Worse yet, the inspection report showed a much smaller heater than what was offered in the tub I ordered.  When I questioned this, the owner stated the customer--me--does not know how to read reports.  I hold a Masters degree in engineering, I certainly can read an inspection report.  One of the customer service reps responded and stated the report had an error and included a reference to a different tub.  When I pointed out it was not just the chart in the report, but the pictures of my "actual" tub also show a C2300 model series heater by Therm Products.  This is a 3 KW heater.  The 5.5 would be a C2550 series heater.  Then they came back and said the factory screwed up and put the wrong heater in this tub and others.  So now they claim they pulled them off the boat and are putting new heaters in them and it will be another two weeks before they get it in the boat.  Bottom line, is this company cannot be trusted.  I am over a year into this nightmare and have no confidence I will ever see a hot tub.  I have filed suit in small claims court.  After I win the case and we get past the 30 day period, I will file a lien against the company and its CEOs property.

Do yourself a favor -- order from someone else.
