I needed a car at immediately,  so I went to drivetime. Drivetime sold me overprice foreign car. They told me I would be able to refinace after two months, which was a lie. No one woud refinance the car without me putting an additional $3000 to $4000 Down, plus the 2900 I put down on the car when I purchased.  I haven't had the car an entire year yet and the care needs a fuel tank and fuel pump. The BMW dealership estimated about $6000 worth of issues but the fuel pump would cost $2400. The aeverex warranty only will conver $400  ust for the fuel pump.  So bmw had the car a week and half costing me about $450 in rentals but stated they could not replace the fuel pump. They wanted me to buy a entire tank. So I had the car towed to another dealership and they also quoted me  $2400 but they change the fuel pump.

This place had the car another week which cost me another $460 in rental. The  problem was that drivetime knowingly sold a bmw that has is considered sulev sedan. This means that it is very expensive to fix. So now I am stuck paying for a car I can't fixed. So today 8/17/16 I received a check for $129.75  for my reimbursement in rental. The check does not cover nearly anything I paid for a rental. They could  have atleast given me 75% of my money back to try and fix the car.The financial officer who close the deal made it seem as if you would be reimburse for all your money from the rental  but she is just doing her job to close the deal. Aeverex and drive time are a big rip off, if you can stay clear of these places. They prey on low income people who credit isn't great. So now I had to buy another car not from drive time. Please beware of drivetime and Aeverex warranty they are a rip off.

Like I stated when I filed this report educating your self about a car or not is beside the point. My point is they insisted they sold me a great car and if anything happen the warranty would cover it. I take it your the person that they use to try to convince others that drive time is legit. The car was not worth what I paid and had problems that wasn't reported when I purchase the car but it's a lesson learned. Drivetime will never have worry about me purchasing a car from them !!!! People do not waste your money with these people. Drive time and aeverex is the worse companies to deal with. Regardless of what mechanic I went to, I still had to pay for the rental , the deductible and the $2400 to get car fix to only be reimburse 129.75 for the rental, you really have lost your mind. Some people forget everyone is not born with a silver spoon and I work for what I have but to throw money away, I refuse to do it.

Not a RipOff...just an uneducated buyer

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 17, 2016

This is NOT a RipOff, but a case of an uneducated buyer with buyers remorse.

This is not to be mean or rude but to give you a bit of a perspective for your future purchases.

You say that it is an "SULEV Sedan" and that is the reason it is expensive to fix.  WRONG...it is expensive to fix because it is a BMW.  BMW have some of the highest repair costs out there and you went to a dealer which is going to be 2-3 times the price of an "independent" mechanic.   You probably could have had the entire repair done for under $2000 at an independent mechanic and probably under $1500.

A simple 10-15 minute internet search BEFORE you purchased the car would have made you very aware of the high maintenence and repair costs of a BMW.

Now,  you also bought the car "as-is" but with a warranty.  It doesn't matter what anyone told you, it doesn't matter what you "heard".  The only thing that maters is what is in writing for the warranty.  If the warranty states it pays for your entire rental then you have a valid complaint.

As for refinancing.  The dealer told you that you could refinance....and they were right you could by putting additional money down.  Again, this is one of those "tricks" dealers use to get people to buy the car.  Refinacing doesn't lower the price of the car.  So if you bought it overpriced..you are still refinancing the overpriced car.  If you have to rely on the hopes of refinancing the car to purchase it...you can't afford it to begin with.
