Purchased a car from them in 2015. Had no credit (nothing derogatory just nothing) I needed a new and they had the best selection. I chose a good car that I really liked but that is not the issue. I did not want the GPS nor the extended warranty but my interest rate would have gone up as would my payment which was already astronomical. So I felt I had no choice. The GPS DID not work where I lived and after much arguing they finally applied it towards principal. Fast forward 18 months. My credit improved dramatically but I couldn'the refinance because I was so upside down. When I left the dealership I was given a folder with all my paperwork. Or so I thought. I started looking closer at my account and realized I had been given several refunds and when I called to find out why was told state licensing refunds. Checked with the state and nope, not from them. When I called about the interest I had paid before they refunded the money they didn't seem to understand why I wanted "pennies". I pushed back and my pennies was $100. They said it was a one time but they would refund the interest. When they refunded the interest they applied it as a normal payment which means more interest. When I called and after a long conversation they finally applied it towards the principal. (Never did find out what it was for) I started looking thru my paperwork more closely. They also emailed me that (or so I thought) but I downloaded it anyways. When I found cancellation forms for the GAP and Extended Warranty I asked my credit union about it. Was told it was illegal for them to raise the interest rate if I refused. (Of course my word against theirs although I know of others even in different states also). I read thru the cancellation paperwork, filled it out and mailed it certified. Within 30 days I had approximately $2600 applied to my principal. This lowered my payoff enough that I was able to get a brand new car, much much lower interest rate and a payment that was over $150 cheaper per month. I'm not done with them yet but at least I no longer have to pay them. If you purchased a car from them and had to get the extended warranty you can cancel. I didn't know it was illegal but if I had seen the cancellation forms I would have cancelled the next day. They were not in the packet given to me when I left but were in the emailed packet. If you have purchased from them, review your account regularly online and compare what was given to you and what was emailed to you. I get the feeling that they know the law well enough to walk the line carefully. But, as far as ethics go, not so much. JMO
