This is a company that supplies duty free products. My Father ordered 6 cartons on the 21st May using a credit card, the payment went through however dutyfreedepot contacted ourselves and said there was a problem with the payment so they would cancel the order and re-do the order again. To my annoyance I found they had now taken two payments instead of one. We have tried on numerous occasions to contact these people and have at least one payment refunded but they just ignore our emails I assume in the hope they hope we will go away.

Just in case the company might have been having problems with emails we contacted them via another email address and suggested we would like to place a large order with them. Yes you've guessed it they replied almost immediately.

Just to try and put this in perspective the money these people have taken was from an 85 year old man who was using the internet for the first time to buy a present for one of his nephews. What a fabulous introduction to have to get caught up with a bunch of fraudsters.

Do not under any circumstances give credit card details to this company.

DutyFreeDepot complaint from Julian in UK

AUTHOR: Edward - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 23, 2012

Here we go again with this same guy making the same complaint only now it's 6 years later. I guess his 85 year old victimized grandfather is 91 now huh? I've been ordering from DFD the entire 6 years this complaint has been on here + 4 years before that and still, the only problem I ever had was in the beginning like I said on my previous post from 4 years ago. I get a 'standing order' from DFD every 3 months for 12 cartons of cigarettes and I am listed as a VIP customer. The standing order charges my Visa credit card every 3 months automatically. They used to take M/C too but they don't anymore. I've used American Express here too and it works.

The one thing I find that could be very confusing to the 1st timer is the drop-down menu of payment methods. There is about a dozen or more payment methods listed. If I wasn't sure about my payment method, I think I would be calling them before entering any credit card details. I also noticed that MasterCard is on the payment method list but they don't accept MasterCard so that is something a programmer/webmaster might miss.

DFD has the same phone number and the same e-mail addresses they had when this complaint was first entered on the ripoffreport. Seems odd to me that Julian don't call them. I certainly would if it was me having the problem.

Seeing this now and then being contacted by the ripoffreport to respond seems very silly IMHO. Really folks, you pushing this same complaint from 6 years ago makes you look bad.

I dont know which Duty Free Depot the person who started this report
is doing business with, but I have been doing business with this company for months and the only problem I ever had was fixed right away. A lot of companies could learn from the customer service I recieved from them. I would have NO PROBLEM recommending them to my friends and famly.

DutyFreeDepot is the greatest online tobacco retailer on this planet!

AUTHOR: Edward - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, August 16, 2010

I have ordered from DutyFreeDepot approximately 10 times in the last year and I have never had a problem with the payment processing for credit cards, E-check or Bank Wire. My 1st order had communication problems because I was using an AOL address and unknown to me at the time was the fact that AOL stops you from getting a lot of your important emails if you don't make changes to the spam filters. Don't make those changes and it can seem like you are being ignored by whomever you send emails to. SAAR is an excellent CSR for DutyFreeDepot. Once you contact him, your problem is immediately solved! This fool from the UK that filed the original report is typical of people in the UK that have nothing better to do but sit around in their underwear, drunk at 2am and bash perfectly good companies for their own gain. He is probably a fraudster himself and trying to get tobacco for free if he makes false claims loud enough. He is probably banned from all the other online retailers. No, DutyFreeDepot is the greatest Online Retailer on the planet at this time. They have the best prices, the best delivery options and the very best Customer Service.

Dear Julian

AUTHOR: Saar - (Israel)

POSTED: Sunday, October 26, 2008

I can certainly understand your frustration.

But, despite what you think and write about us, I can confirm to you that Dutyfreedepot is not a ripoff. We are bound by customs international laws and cannot deviate from that path otherwise we wouldn't be able to operate!

Dutyfreedepot did not operate in full last year for technical reasons that had to do with Customs relocation.

I believe that during this time, a few customers did not receive their goods
and were ignored for the simple reason that even basic operations were placed on hold.

I urge you to contact me in person. We provide the most accomodating services and guarantee delivery to your doorstep as soon as possible.
