I thought it was too good to be true but like all suckers, I couldn't resist a deal. so I paid my money for tobacco and promptly received a payment email and shortly afterwards not one but 2 shipping emails. Dates of shipment but no details but at that stage I wasn't overly concerned.

According to the site I should inquire if my order took over 21 days to arrive. It did so I emailed, not once but three times and have still to get a response other than the computer generated "your email has been received and will, blah, blah".

I never did receive a reply about my particular order so today I called their number. This rang once with a US dial tone and then into a foreigh dial tone. Eventually this was auto answered by incomprehensible gibberish which I assume was Israeli. I thought it was a waste of my time and money to leave a message when I couldn't interpret even if I could leave one so hung up.

I then researched Duty Free Depot and found a huge trail of complaints, main ones being non-receipt of goods and non answer of emails.

The company is based in Israel and there are way too many complaints of non receipt of goods for this to be anything other than a scam, despite the pleadings of the Duty Free Depot rep who seems to spend most of his time on all the complaint sites posting rebuttals.

I'n now at the 30 day point of non receipt of goods and am not going to waste much more time on redress other than to continue to post warnings about this company. Buyer Beware!

Another side - no problems ever on my end

AUTHOR: Smokestory - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 02, 2009

I have used the company multiple times over the last year with no problems.  A delay of a month or so here and there due to customs issues but that's it.  Depending on what you ordered, the product might ship from a warehouse in one country, arrive in another and then still another until it gets to the USPS.

Look, when ordering from the company you are avoiding the (IMHO) outrageous taxes on smokers and tobacco products here in the US.  Shipping such products is a delicate matter at best.  In my experience, DFD does the best they can to get you the product you want through the intentionally obtuse maze of laws and postal inspectors.

My suggestion is to take your anger out on your state and federal reps who insist on taxing everything to death.   Based on current legislation - e.g., S. 1147 - you will soon have no worries. The only way to get your smokes will be to go in person to a retailer, present an I.D. and pay a high, high price.

Good luck - I hope you get your issue resolved!
