this dealerhip advertizes 48 hours to return the vehicle that was purchased, then denies you the right to do so. my brother returned a vehicle well within this 48hour period and dealer told him it would be considered a repossession of the vehicle. Why??

the contract had not been sent to the fin co, so what was the problem? To submit a contract after any vehicle has been returned is legal thievery. Bad, Bad business ethics and false advertizement. this seems to be what Eastern Motors is most known for. Complete and Total ripoff any way they can do it.

48 hour EXCHANGE policy

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 21, 2005

the 48 hour EXCHANGE policy is exactly what it says it is. not an I need a car to drive to PA for the weekend and bring it back on Monday, policy. no matter how many miles you put on a car in 48 hours, Easterns will EXCHANGE the car. the only stipulation in this policy is that the bank doing the financing, will approve the new car. Easterns can not take you out of a Camry that the bank would barely approve and put you in an Escalade that they won't approve with a 48 hour EXCHANGE policy.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Deborah I totally understand but...

To Deborah -

I definataly agree with you that Eastern's in a way is a rip off. Unfortunatly if they don't give you anything in writing about you being able to return your vehicle then it is not valid. Although if they advertise it it may be false advertisement. But another thing is that is that was advertised on TV or something they may have been fine print.

Meaning that you can return the car under certain circumstances only not because you decide that you don't want it anymore. Did you ask them if you can trade the car for another especially since it had not gone to the finance company yet. They may have been able to switch you to another vechile for the same price. I know that do this because I personally know people who had problems with their vehicle after purchasing it and they switched them into another car but they also were not taking no for an answer.

To Dawn. I have noticed that you have responsed to a few posting here about Eastern's. I'm not sure if you just an average consumer or you have some sort of connection to the dealership. If you have noticed things with Eastern's has changed. If you notice maybe a year or so ago they never had any Carfax info about they cars on their website but now they do. I wonder why? Probably because they were getting a reputation for selling people piece of crap cars and people were complaining. And then Southern's Auto became well known and was taking a bit of their business.

Also, I went a dealership in Forestville, MD - Maryland Auto Club and purchased a truck this February and they give everyone a 24 hour return policy. If for any reason within 24 hours of purchasing the vehicle and within 100 miles you don't want the car for any reason you can return it and get your deposit back in full no questions asked. SO that is one place that has a refund policy and it is in writing when you sign your paperwork.

Right of Recission on Cars The only time this applies is in door-to-door and mail-order sales

AUTHOR: Dawn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 23, 2005

Most Car Dealers (and Retailers in general) DO NOT have a rescission period. It is a common myth that you have 3 days right of rescission where you can change your mind for any reason and take the product back. That is simply not true. The only time this applies is in door-to-door and mail-order sales. I've never heard of a Car Dealer that will allow you to return a car (though some allow 3 days to trade the vehicle for another vehicle).
