I have been dealing with First National Bank of Marin since August of last year. This bank practices deceit and holds your payment long past a reasonable period. I have paid well ahead of my due dates, yet I never see any credit until after the date.
I just paid off an $800 bill, sending the payment the way I always do, which is through the billpayer service of my credit union. I mention this because I also have money going to USAA Federal Savings bank in San Antonio as well as Providian.
I probably would not be saying anything were it not for the fact that the other institutions credit within one to two days of receipt. I have never had any problems with Providian or USAA, yet FNB continues to hold payments. I called this morning because my account (of which 2100.00 is in there as secured) which I checked on Saturday showed I had a balance [amt I could charge] of $1928.00.
I rented a car over the weekend and bought a charger and that amounted to $250.00 - so my balance should have been around $1600 to the good. I called last week about my statement looking a little off and was told that the $800 had been received but not yet credited to my account. [when you look at my statement you see that it had been received]. This morning I called and was told the same thing - except when you look on the statement the $800 is there.
I don't know what is going on but it sure looks like there is a bit of dishonesty on their part. I hope this bank bites the dust. They are gouging the consumer who seeks to rectify his credit situation first by not honoring the payments in a timely manner but also reflected in the statements. In short, this bank apparently can shaft you legally. I am pulling my money out and going with my other two banks who at least know how to honor people, not cheat them.
