I wish I had found this web site earlier! What First National Credit did to me was just like what has happened to so many others. I also thought I was getting a Visa gold card from FNC, only to find out after my membership packet had arrived that it was rigged to only allow purchases from the company store. Immediately upon receipt of my membership packet and the subsequent discovery that I had been ripped off, I returned the packet on July 13th of this year, with a simple request that FNC return my $43 rush processing fee (No Questions Asked).
At this point I still naively assumed my membership fee would be refunded. On the 30th of July I sent a friendly reminder via fax indicating that I was still awaiting a refund. On the 31st of July I actually received a phone call from supposedly a customer service rep telling me it usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to process a refund. [Odd I thought, since they could get my check cashed and a membership packet out in (10) days].
Anyway on September 14th I sent a lengthy fax bumping FNC about my refund and giving them a little time line on what had transpired since mid July. At this point all discussions were on way. I would either call or fax and no reply was forthcoming from First National.
Since then, it has been the automated customer service phone system that always promised the next available representative (while on hold for ~ 7 minutes) when you were unceremoniously disconnected. Near the beginning of November their phone system just gave up the ghost, and was apparently disconnected.
Im afraid the SOBs got away with my $43 but maybe this group can help the next poor unfortunate soul thats tempted to sign-up with a group like this. I have always thought that some organization such as the Federal Trade Commission or even the FBI should have some involvement in this type of activity because in my opinion its dishonest, bordering on criminal, activity.
