I am currently buying a home and Green Tree Servicing owns the mortgage, having purchased it from GreenPoint, the company who originally provided the loan. I frequently pay above the minimum due each month and note that the monthly overage should be applied to the principal. Green Tree always ignores the request.

I wrote a letter to Green Tree asking that all additional payments be applied to the principal retroactive to the dates of each. They complied with the request. However, the next time I reviewed a report from one of the major credit reporting agencies, I noticed that Green Tree stopped reporting my account as "paying as agrees;" and, instead, listed it negatively. I contacted Green Tree and they stated they would have it removed. They followed through. However, though there was no change in payment status, Green Tree again provided negative data to the reporting agencies.

I disputed the listing but Green Tree affirmed that it was correct. I contacted Green Tree but they refuse to fix the problem.
