We purchased a sofa bed from Jennifer Convertibles (Chicago/Diversey Parkway store) on Saturday, February 15th. We had visited several shops prior to their store, but could not find a store that could accommodate our immediate need for a sofa bed.

We were expecting out-of-town guests the following 3 weekends, and desperately needed a sofa bed. Fortunately, we found one at their store, and an associate named Maureen was able to get us a delivery date of Friday, February 21st. She said someone would call us Friday morning and give us a 5-hour window in which we could expect our delivery.

By 11:00 a.m. on the 21st, we still hadn't heard on a delivery time, so I called the store and spoke with a woman named Joan, who claimed to be the manager. She said someone should have called me Thursday with a delivery time, and said she would look into it and call me back. She called back and said that there would be no delivery because the sofa was damaged during delivery.

We were furious. First, my husband had taken a day off of work to wait for the sofa, then we didn't even get a phone call, and now we would not have a bed for our guests that were arriving that evening.

When I asked Joan what she would do to make this "right", and make-up for the inconvenience, she said all she could do was apologize. She said she could not get me another couch because they were being delivered from NC and there were no other couches available. I asked about one of the floor models, and she said she could not do that.

So I asked about waiving the delivery charge when the couch finally does get delivered. She said she could not do that, and repeated that all she could do is apologize. I immediately cancelled the order, and demanded my credit card be credited.

I only wish I had researched the web prior to my purchase, so I would have learned of all the other people that have been screwed by this company. My husband has a couch from their store, which is why we initially went, but you can be sure I will discourage all my friends (and everyone else via this wonderful website) from EVER doing business with Jennifer Convertibles.
