My wife complained of her Neil Lane engagement ring snagging on clothing. She observed the prongs holding the center diamond were extremely sharp. We sent the ring in for repair to smooth out the sharpness. Several months later, my wife noticed the Head on the ring wobbling. I believe the integrity of the ring was compromised by the previous repair performed on the ring.  I paid allot of money for this ring with expectations of a durable long lasting product. The life of this product did not exceed 1 year of wear.  When I spoke with the various Kay representatives, at first, Kay recognized the product fault and accepted the ring for repair. Days later, observed they started back peddling putting all effort in shifting product fault back to the consumer. Where is the Kay® Guarantee they aggressively market to the public?  Am so disappointed with how customer service danced around the issue. Where is the Kay® Guarantee?  I am in the process of researching my consumer rights options and seek any help in holding Kay acountable or taking ownership for the product fault.

Thanks

Normal wear

What many people don't realize is that gold is a very soft metal. All fine jewelry requires maintenance and upkeep. I've been selling jewelry (not for Kay) for several years and I always compare jewelry to cars. Cars need oil changes, break pads, etc. Your wife will need to get her prongs done every so often. I've had clients bring their jewelry in every 9 months, or so, because they never take it off. I would recommend that she take her ring off at night so it doesn't rub up against the sheets and pillows. It's strange that the entire head would be wobbling, unless it had been knocked on something. Since it had been several months since the ring had been worked on, it's doubtful that their goldsmith is at fault. She may have accidentally knocked it against something without even noticing it. I've never shopped at Kay and will never shop there, and it's very rare for me to side with them, but those are just the facts of fine jewelry. Check around your town and see if any other stores have an on-site jeweler. That way, your wife's ring won't be gone for as long. Good luck!
