They hacked my PC, shut off my only emergency phone service, and erased my firewall logs
proving they did it. or so they thought...see attached
The following is my opinion of the events as they transpired.
My original ISP was cableone. I have had Lingo VOIP phone service for a few years before having problems. Cableone began a hard sales push for their VOIP service. Then the cable guys came to my house & said they needed to see how I had my internet hooked up. I asked why & they stuttered and acted stupid. I let them in and they picked up my Lingo modem and looked it over ansd asked me what it was. I told them & they left. Within a hour my lingo phone quit working. I called & complained & told them I never had any trouble with it. They fixed it almost immediately, but I know had marginal phone service, sporadic failures, noise etc. I bought the magic jack voip phone device & my phone was perfectly clear. I started within a week getting firewall warnings of attacks from cableone. My magic jack stopped working. I sent them a nasty e-mail and the problems cleared up, for a while & started again. This time I sent them & magic jack my firewall trace logs. It stopped, but I was so pissed I dumped cableone, and got clearwire wireless cable. For 4-5 days it was flawless, then same 'ol same 'ol. So I called clearwire tech support & they started a song & dance telling me what I knew. I sent them my logs & sent them to Magic Jack and cc my portable drive. I have all the original logs & so does magic jack. clearwire hacked my PC again and erased all my firewall logs...or so they thought. I'm willing to swear in court that this is true & acurate to the best of my knowlegde. This should get them some 9.0 sphincter pucker

Awesome experience with Magic Jack!!

I bought a few hours ago a Magic Jack at my local Radio Schack for $40. After taking the dongle from the plastic case, I plugged it in my USB port, nad it started to install itself and to update its software. I hooked the telephone to the dongle through its phone jack, and next thing you know, my wife was receiving my call on her cellular telephone. Then I proceeded to call myself from her cell phone, also very successfully. I set the Call Forwarding feature from the magicjack.com website, and after calling my NEW home number from my wife cell, the call was forwarded to my [own] cellular telephone. Call Forward was also a success!
Then I proceeded to see if this little artifact could handle FAXES! I tried it first by receiving and transmitting just running widows faxing, hoping to get and transmit just using the Magicjack. It did not work. HOWEVER!, all I had to do was to was to hook the telephone cable from the magicjack dongle to my fax port. Genius, genius (like in "Mr. Deeds"). I was able to send and receive faxes, although receiving was a little bit "tricky", it took about for attempts. Neverthless, it was a success!!
I used my HP DV1000 2004 model laptop, wich is bloated with software. Even with a computer so full of add-ons, the program has perform virtually flawless. I have cable Internet and 1GB memory, running windows XP.
One thing I notice of those speaking against this fine products is the falacious nature of their attacks. They feel more like little kids who just got tired of their toy and now want their money back, without considering not only how beneficial it could be but also that this is a $20-$40 product! To them I say: Go back to your local telephone company, and give them hundreds of dollars for a service that you probably did not even use! I know that with MagicJack and my cell number and good to go for a good while.

MagicJack Set Up
After you have connected the dongel for the first time, registered the device, and have the 'softphone' on the screen, you should probably run TCP Optimizer to tune your computer to work with it in an efficient manner; it can be downloaded from the following website:
http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
You can use the TCP Optimizer by following these short instructions:
1. Choose your maximum Connection Speed from the slider bar (the maximum available bandwidth, in kilobits per second)
2. Choose your Network Interface, or check to Modify All Network Adapters
3. Pick "Optimal settings" from the radio-buttons near the bottom of the program
4. Click on the "Apply changes" button and reboot
MagicJack Uses
1. Inexpensive Secondary Telephone Service
2. Excellent adjunct to expensive prime time and/or poor indoor Cellular Telephone Service
3. Distribute magicJack phone number to all contacts as primary contact number
