I have had a debit card which I was forced into getting if I wanted to recieve my paychecks from Walmart. The card is a Money Network card for Walmart employees, but anyone can purchase a Money Network card.

I worked there 3 years ago, and while I had the card, I had saved my information to all my bills, Amazon account, etc. so I have found it hard to switch due to convience. And, "if it's not broken, don't fix it."

I moved back to California and left my job at Walmart, but still continued to use the card for said reasons above.

I have had nothing but problems.

The Walmart Super Center here had a "Money Networ" ATM that seemed to be turned off every time I went to go use it.

I finally ask an employee one day and he states "Oh, that? That hasn't worked since the store opened!"

Later I find that I am able to pull funds from my card at any register...

Back in February, Target had a breach of security in which any individuals who used their debit card between a certain time were to cancel their cards and get new ones.

A couple months ago I called regarding a different issue, but the representative had told me that my card had been suspended and they were sending me a new one that I would get in 7-10 business days.

I advised that is far too long to wait and not have access to my card, so she allowed me to resume use of it until I "got my new one."

I never got a new one (because they sent it to my parents old address), so I resumed using my old one and never had a problem.

Tonight I am at dinner with my significant other and I am told my card was reported as lost/stolen and I couldn't make a purchase.

I called customer service and was told that I needed to activate the new card (that I never received) and that if I didn't have it, he would have to mail me a new one to my current address, but that it would take 7-10 business days. THIS AGAIN.

He advises me I can go to the nearest Walmart and have them give me a "Walmart Money Network check" and perform this complicated series of getting the check, calling & activating this card I never received, and authorizing myself to cash this check at Walmart.

The employees looked at me like I was nuts. They had never heard of this in their entire life.

I call customer service back and am advised "well...maybe you can ask the employees to do you a favor and give you a blank check." Okay, what the h*ll is this guy talking about?!

He advises me the only other option is to transfer my funds into "another account of someone I trust" which would now take two days because it is after 5:30pm.

So here I am, with no access to my whole entire pay check (not from Walmart) for two days. Nothing I can do. Nowhere I can go to get assistance. I spoke to completely foreign people (and granted this usually doesn't bug me, it bugged me tonight because they were literally reading the same script over and over, and I spoke to TWO supervisors!)

DO NOT ever rely on this account. Don't ever try to manage your money with it.

The ATM fees are out of this world and GOOD LUCK finding an atm with minimal fees (that actually works!)

Walmart employees don't even know how to handle these cards!

If you have one, I suggest you transfer all your funds out ASAP to an account where you can actually get some assistance!
