I am a victim of fraud by a moving company called Moving Van Lines, www.moving-van-lines I hired this company to complete a move for me from Fl to Il on Sept 26th. I was quoted 4996.20 to move my goods. When the movers showed up, they cornered me into signing 2 blank forms which I didn't feel comfortable doing. I contacted the office and was told by the agent that this was normal procedure for itemizing items and would be filled in at the end but not to worry that I would only be charged the quoted price. The company took 2 days to complete my move putting 1 day behind schedule for my drive into Il. On the second day when the movers finished, I engaged into my trip. I contacted the office to find out when my goods would arrive and no one was available. I found out that they had a Jewish holiday until Friday of that week. I contacted the office on Friday and spoke to a person named Randy whom seems to head up the office and was told that they had miscalculated cubic feet and was now being asked to pay in excess of 12,000. I refused and stated that I never agreed to this amount. They threatened to return my stuff to a warehouse and not deliver, holding my items hostage unless I paid in full. The following Monday I called to request information on my goods and was denied any information unless I wire the full amount. Apparently, they have fraudulently filled in the balance amounts of the 2 forms I signed claiming I agreed. The also claim I had an astonishing $3500 in packing materials which is a scam. Between my wife and I and family, we packed our own stuff in our own boxes, wrapping and other materials I bought along with stuff that was given to me by the neighbors. I still have receipts to prove this. The only thing we asked the moving company for was 10-12 medium sized boxes which they had told me would be no charge.

It has now been a little over 2 weeks since this event and still have no idea where my stuff is. We are in Illinois with no furniture, cloth, pots or pans, TV or anything essential to live like humans. This company refuses to deal with the situation and does not care. The worst part is that my in-laws moved with us in whom one is handicap and wheelchair bound and needs her daily things. My kids are 1 and 4 years of age and have no toys to play with or even a DVD to watch since it is all packed up and on the truck. We are sleeping on the floor in 30 Degree weather. We have been a victim of fraud by these thief's and want justice. Moving is stressful enough and we are honest and decent people who don't deserve this. I ask for your help and consideration into an investigation. Apparently upon my research on the Internet, this company has been rated F by the Better Business Bureau and warns consumers against them and have also found that many other victims have fallen into the same scenario with this company, all searchable through Google.
