I work for an automotive dealership and we do not have good health insurance. So I received a fax from this company showing $299.00 a month for a family, so I decided to call and fact find.

I spoke to an Andy Alexander who told me I would have no deductible, I would only have to pay $25.00 for doctor visits and $50.00 for E.R.s. I was extremely leery and kept calling him back whenever I would think of a question, I asked if they had a web-site I could check out and he said no, all of that would come within 2 weeks of me signing up along with my insurance cards, he did however tell me I could look up beech street for providers and that will list all of the doctors I could see.

I asked him who my insurance company would be and he said they are underwritting for AETNA and UNITED HEALTHCARE, so I then started to believe this is the real deal, I asked about refunds and he said I could get a full refund within 30 days, so I figured I would try it out. It was the 1st of October and my coverage would be in affect the 1st of Nov.

So I waited 2 weeks.... nothing. I scheduled a Dr. appointment for the 2nd of Nov. and it was the 31st of October and still had nothing so I called to see if they could fax a copy of my coverage and they said no they aren't allowed to give me anything until the first day of my coverage, just so happened that would have been the cut off for the full refund. To this day I still haven't received insurance cards eventhough I ordered them 3 different times.

I am from Wisconsin and we are a very consumer friendly state, so I called the Insurance Commissioner only to find out National Alliance of Associations isn't even licensed to sell insurance in the state of Wisconsin. They are working on this for me, and I have left messages with the Manager at National Alliance and still haven't heard anything back. If they solicit you run fast in the other direction!!!!

Is a discount card program, it is not real health insurance. You should file a complaint with your insurance department (they don't really have jurisdiction since it is not an insurance plan) however since they mentioned real insurance companies (Aetna, UHC) they may have committed an insurance-related violation.

Beechstreet is a PPO network only. All of these discount scams work the same way. They buy access to a list of providers but do not actually have any negotiated contract with those providers.

Unfortunately the person who sold you the plan is likely unlicensed so you can only file complaints with your AG, BBB and maybe the Dept of Corporations in the state of NAA's domicile.

Good luck and be careful out there.
