I'm 86 years old and should have known better. I need some new glasses and a hearing aid and my wife needs some dental work, so when the telemarketer told me NCE would pay 50% of the bill for glasses, hearing aids, and dental work I became curious and listened too long. He told me it was not an insurance, but a discount plan and that Wal Mart Vision was included. I told the super salesman that I would not buy anything until I read the brochure to be sure what I was purchasing.
He assured me this was going to save me 50% on all the things I needed, and that he could not send me any brochures or written advertisements until I had signed up. HANG UP, STUPID! But I did not. I agreed to try it and gave him my bank account information. The plan was to cost me $39.95 a month after a $25.00 registeration fee. Sucker! The money was deducted from my checking account September 26, and the plan was to be effective October 15.
The information I have received has no mailing address, no email address, no city or state designation, only a couple of telephone numbers that I'll try Monday morning.
I went to Wal Mart to check on my new glasses. They never heard of National Congress of Employees. I called Sam's and another Wal Mart with the same results.
I have never received a "packet" from them. I did get a list of dentists close by, and discovered that the dental plan is connected to Aetna Dental, with no guarantee of any discount or co-payment. Early in October I called NCE and cancelled my membership and called my bank and had them cancel the automatic withdrawal. For the month of October there was no withdrawal, but on November 6 they made another $39.95 withdrawal.
I'm in the process of trying to contacting NCE and will contact my bank to try to get this mess straightened out. DON'T BE A SUCKER! I've done it for you.
