I signed up with the National Consumer Resource Center in the spring of 2003 and unlike many unfortunate folks who have reported here, I only put up with their s**t for approximately three months. They promised to bring my accounts current - which they were prior to signing up with them. They promised to lower my interest rates and instead my interest rates went up (as far as they could go), my accounts were closed by the creditors for non-payment and I was worse off than when I started.

When I was looking for the site to make my fourth payment online, I found a site like this one with many other people who were ripped off by them. I didn't send anymore payments to them and since then have only received one letter stating my payment was due. No further contact.

For those of you who are reading this and have either been ripped off by them or someone else and don't know what to do. DO IT YOURSELF. I called each one of my creditors and set up payment plans about six months ago. Since then I have paid off two of my bills and within 12 months I will be debt free. Why pay someone to take your money and to do something you can do yourself?!

NCRC, Inc. told me it would take five years. Doing it myself will have taken a year and a half, including the over the limit charges and excess interest I have had to pay because of them. Your creditors are not your enemy, NCRC, Inc. and every other "credit repair" service out there is. Your creditors WILL work with you to set up a payment that you can afford and one of mine even lowered my interest rate for joining their payment plan.

If I can do it, so can you.
