I purchased an item from Newegg.com a few weeks ago and received it as advertised. This Saturday I received about 450 bogus emails in a 3 minute timeframe. Amongst the 450 emails was an order for an item from Newegg.com for $2.25 which I did not order. It said the item was coming from a company which i had never heard of. I went to the Newegg (not the email link) and logged into my account.  Sure enough it said the order had been placed.  I went to the Newegg FAQ page and found how to cancel the order. The instructions were to go to the order page select that item and hit the CANCEL button.

I followed the instructions but there was no button to cancel the order.  I then went to the contact us page, got the phone number and called Newegg.  The recording said their office was closed until Monday. I then tried to reaccess Newegg's website but the account portion was down. I then cancelled my Card. On Monday morning I received an email at 1:46am from Newegg saying the item had shipped and it would arive in 7-14 days. I called Newegg customer service at 9:00am PST and customer support found the order.  I told them that the cancel order button was not available.  The rep said it was there.

I told the rep that the Newegg website says that customer sevice is open ver the weekend but a recording said they were closed until Monday.  I also told him that the account portion of their website conveniently went down on Saturday which he said "That's strange". At any rate he said that they would try to pull back the order and I aasked him if my card would still be charged and he said yes but I could contact my CC company.  At any rate it's only $2.25 but if this scam is pulled enough times it can add up to alot of money.
