I saw and ad on TV for Ntelos cell phone service that said "If you're not 100% satisfied, get 100% of your money back". This offer is supposed to be good for 30 days using the phone, or 30 minutes of talk time. I purchased a cell phone and contract to try the service.
I kept the cell phone only four days, because I found it did not get great service in my area. Got the phone Friday, took it back Monday. It had 12 minutes of talk time on it.
When I took the phone back to the store, the salesgirl informed me that the $30 activation fee is non-refundable. I said "Fine". I did get the money back that I paid for the phone.
Then, about a month later, I get a bill from Ntelos for over $12 for the one day that I'd used the phone (August 8 - August 9). I called customer service and they said it was a mistake, to take it to the place where I got the phone and they would credit it. I did, and at the store they told me that no, I had to pay. So I called Ntelos customer service direct again, and they said that I did, in fact, have to pay the bill.
I said "Well, what about the TV ad that says if you're not 100% satisfied, get 100% of your money back" ? And the girl says, "That only applies to what you had to pay for the phone".
I'm not sure what the laws are that applies to this sort of thing, but it sure seems to me that this is misrepresentation, and false advertising. Now I'm out almost a hundred bucks for a cell phone I didn't even keep, because they misrepresented themselves.

Don't forget to read the fine print:
It states that the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee is application if, in the first 30 days of service, you PORT YOUR NUMBER to another carrier.
If you didn't port, you are charged a $35 restocking fee, issued credit for the price of your handset and a prorated bill for the time where you had the service. Remember, taxes, state & federal fees, and handset insurance are NOT prorated charges.
