Prestone Mail In Rebate Denied claimed that receipt was not received Douglas, Arizona

I recently purchased Prestone 50/50 Antifreeze coolant which advertised a mail in rebate for $5.  The rebate required a sales receipt and the foil from the opening of the Coolant container.  I mailed in both of these items (as rediculous as it sounded to have to mail in a piece of foil from the mouth of the container).  I received a postcard months later stating:

Dear Consumer:
Thank you for participating in this offer.  Unfortunately we could not honor your request due to the following reason(s):

We did not receive a sales receipt (copy or original dated sales receipt required).

When I mailed the envelope, the Rebate form was attached to the sales receipt which had a date on it.  Unfortunately I did not make a copy of this sales receipt not thinking that a company would actually operate with this kind of shady business. 

I'm pretty sure that I did not just mail in an empty envelope!!! 

It's not the $5 that bothers me, rather than the concept that a company is making sales for a product and not honoring their end of the bargin.  I see that others have posted here as well, which makes me think that there are thousands of others who have been scammed as well.  Thanks for nothing Prestone, I will share this story with everyone who I talk to, on social media, and never buy a Prestone product again.
