4 year old Kenmore Elite Refrigerator quit cooling. Scheduled Sears service. Earliest service was two weeks. In the two week period I determined the problem was that the defrost cycle was not working. After defrosting, it would cool for about 4 days. I left a detailed message on line for the service tech. as to what the problem was. The service tech. came to the house and left stating that he couldn't fix it if it wasn't broke. Again it would only cool for four days. Called 800-4-my-home to complain and they hung up on me. I then had to re-schedule on-line. Again two weeks until service tech could come. Finally, service tech came and of course didn't have the right parts. So, ordered parts, and two more weeks he is to return. Final result, 6+ weeks, $250.00, much time and frustration. I will never buy a Sears appliance again. How do they expect people to go 6+ weeks without a refrigerator?

Its not just kenmore

Here is something I dont think a lot of consumers know. When you go to purchase something thats considered a big ticket item. Something like a refrigerator, washer, dryer or a car. Its your job to research it.

You cant expect a sales man to tell you the truth about what your buying. If you were to research theses appliance you would know how good that appliance was rated also that kenmore is just a name.They dont make anything they just slap their name on it

So you never buying kenmore again will not stop that from happening again. This applaince ould have been made by anyone. GE,Whirlpool or worst Maytag. You can think you are never dealing with sears again, But they own a lot of companys that dont say sears but they are.

Your experience with our 1-800-4-my home is normal. They have people there who are not trained at all on how to handle customers. I am sure when that manager told you he can not answer for other people he did not know who the getelman was you were speaking of. When a customer is transfered to another department you are being transferred to a whole nother state.

I can only suggest to avoid this kind of service in the furture is ask to be transferred to your local service unit. They have all the control there and there are only 5 people at each unit so everyone knows everyone.
