I have noticed for the past several months that my monthly payment keeps going up. Then, this month, I discovered the reason why: they have added a $12.10 "other fee" charge to my statement.

I called them and asked what this fee was about, and was told that it was for a property inspection. The person I spoke to said that they usually do a property inspection when they have had no contact with the borrower or have not received a payment. They claimed that the property inspection was done on August 8th. I told them that this was bogus, since I made the August payment on September 22nd. Further, I'm in the title insurance business and I know darn well a property inspection costs more than $12.10. They probably thought they'd be able to slip such a small amount through after inceasing my payment slightly for the past several months.

This confused the customer service rep, and she said she'd have someone call me. I'm not paying the $12.00 fee, and I'll be on the lookout for bogus charges in the future, thanks to this website.
