The Express Group, Rebate Service Center Linens-n-Things rebate ripoff and fraud Wixom Michigan

I purchased a large quantity of LNT-branded towels and rugs Feb 2005 which were being offered under a $25 gift card rebate for every $50 purchase. All required paperwork (rebate coupon, UPC tags, and receipt copy) was mailed to the listed Arizona PO box address 2/16/05, well before the rebate deadline of 2/28/05. The UPC codes were tapes to paper to ensure they would not be lost.

Today I called the rebate center's 800 number because it had been more than 8 weeks and I had not received the rebate. I was told the UPC tags had not been received and found out the processing center is in Michigan, not Arizona. The opportunity for paperwork "loss" is tremendous and is simply visible evidence of the poorest of quality controls. The rep I spoke with (Chris) kept asking me for the original UPC tags, even though I told him they had been sent, as directed, with the original mailing, and then he told me that the UPC codes were on the receipt, which he acknowledged they had received. I advised The Express Group rep that they were perpetrating fraud, at which point the rep said he would issue a request for the rebate to be approved. We'll see.

In the meantime, I have also advised Linens-n-Things of the problem and that I will file complaints with their and The Express Group's state Attorney Generals, the Better Business Bureau, and SEC and/or FTC, and requested LNT to immediately authorize the rebate. I also suggested they find another rebate fulfillment company since I found many complaints against The Express Group on Ripoff Report

The Express Group should be sued. Given the rash of recent complaints filed at Ripoff Report against this company, tt is likely that there are many more individuals being denied valid rebates who have not discovered Ripoff Report and don't know where to turn.
