US Airways Bumped From A Flight. Compensatory Travel Vouchers That Can't Be Used. What a Disaster. ripoff Arlington Virginia

Two of us were bumped from an oversold flight from San Juan to Chicago on 6/7/07. This was involuntary due to the airline overselling the flight. We were placed on an American Airlines flight and given two US Air travel vouchers good for Zone 2 for one year. (Domestic US, Carribean, Latin America.)

Called US Airways the following week to redeem the vouchers for a vacation beginning 9/1/07. After having read of a couple of bad experiences with US Air travel vouchers on this site, I figured flexibility was the key. Told the agent we would be willing to leave ANYTIME from Sept 1 through Sept 5 2007 and had to be back by September 9. Also told the agent we were willing to go ANYWHERE in the Carribean. I was placed on hold while the agent checked seven different Carribean destinations.

The agent came back on the line after 20 minutes and told me nothing was available with the exception of a flight leaving for Aruba on September 8 - one day before we needed to be back in Chicago.

What good are these free vouchers if they can never be used?
