Today I attempted to contact Verizon Fios about some basic questions about their On Demand service. My question was simple, "how long does it take for new shows to appear on demand".

Having been a previous Comcast subscriber before I moved, I was able to watch previously aired shows within 24 hrs of their air date (kudos Comcast!). However, when asking a customer service rep on the Live Chat (an instant messaging feature that allows you to chat with a customer service rep) I had to ask my question multiple times before I even got an answer that remotely answered my question. She explained to me how to access on demand, tried to get me to purchase additional channels, etc. However, after repeating my question over and over again I was not able to get a response.

Verizon is a joke of a service in comparison to Comcast. Having to pay to watch television shows on FlexView was my customer service reps suggestion. My question is why would I pay to watch shows I can watch online for free? Why would I pay extra to watch shows that cable providers such as Comcast let me watch for free on their On Demand service less than 12 hours after a television program has aired?

I have had Verizon Fios Cable and Internet services exactly 1 week. I have had nothing but problems. The technician was late for install, there were issues with the internet connection for the first 3 days, after asking repeatedly how to change my internet secure network password I received no response, lack of informed customer service reps, customer service reps on "Live Chat" that are more concerned with upgrading your service than helping you with your concerns, uninformed customer service reps on Live Chat that do not know about the products/services they provide.

I would NEVER recommend Verizon Fios Cable or Internet to anyone. If there is any alternative service provider in your area I recommend that you go with the alternative. I experienced all of these problems in a week's time, I couldn't imagine how a lifetime of this service would pan out.

Bottom line is that Verizon Fios Cable and Internet is not a quality service and their employees (technicians and customer service reps) are lazy, uninformed, unprofessional, and do not care about you (the customer) or their services.

Do not use Verizon

ON Demand is a ripoff with FIOS

AUTHOR: Laura Hearne - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 22, 2013

I totally agree with the customer on this original complaint

I had a DVR installed so I can record and because I thought I would be able to stream the on-demand shows in the library like I could with COMCAST-  but NO- not without pay for every one again!

Unfortunately all Verizon FIOS is interested in is adding more fees to my bill.

I think I should be able to get shows I already subscribe to for free.  When I called customer service it took me 20 minutes to explain the issue to a very unsympathetic and uneducated service representative.

He told me the networks were responsible for setting the Flexview fees.  As I tried to explain to him I had already paid a subscription fee and expected FIOS to have a library of past shows at no cost- LIKE COMCAST.
I guess the best tack is to run out the contract, cut back on all the extras and pickup streaming shows from Amazon and Netflix

Paying 1.99 of 2.99 to watch a show I forgot to record is unsatifactory-  and not what I signed up for.  And as for the stations I pay for- instead of rebroadcasting the shows again they are loaded with paid commercials- nearly  channel converts to info-mermmericals late at night instead of doing an encore of the days shows like comcast does... THIS REALLY drives me nuts as I watched a lot of late night and on demand TV with comcast...

SHAME ON Verizon FIOS- I should have known when they screwed up my fiber installation  and cut my underground dog fence- with no apology-  that this was not a service oriented company.  DITTO on stay away. I will be voting with my feet as soon as my contract is up!!!!!!!!!
