I acted early and in good faith in an attempt to receive loan modification from my mortgage company Wells Fargo after a serious car accident in April 2007 left me without full time income. I am an R.N., single and live alone. I am still in a wheelchair after 7 surgeries to save my foot. I am back to work full time as of 1/2/08 primarily because of this situation NOT because I was physically able to do so. I only asked for a limited and temporary modification of my mortgage loan. I provided all necessary documentation more than once, and offered more information than was requested including confidential medical records. Well, I did receive a moratorium until 4/1/08, but the situation is complicated and I cannot & will not trust this company any longer.
Repeatedly during this review process, I was told by WFHM staff NOT to send payments which could have been sent. I called repeatedly (14 times) from September 2007 until December 17, 2007 with a majority of these calls occurring in November and December to verify this information. Again, I was told repeatedly not to send payments. I was reassured by staff at Wells Fargo that not making these payments would in no way result in late fees, penalties or actions against me from their company. I was reassured on 12/24/07 by the loan negotiator that signing the forbearance agreement was just a formality and would not result in any negative penalties INCLUDING no negative report to my credit agencies. That was not exactly true!
After an attempt to refinance my mortgage with another company due to the extreme stress I've experienced because of Wells Fargo's practices, I discovered they had issued a delinquency on my credit report. My very FIRST one! No other company will even discuss refinance with me because of this black mark. I have always had excellent credit, until now. Payment COULD have been sent when I was told NOT to, and would have been sent had I been informed of the calamity of this process.
I am willing to do whatever it takes to settle this account to INCLUDE having this negativity removed from my credit report. I have endured extreme emotional and financial hardship along with the physical hardships already suffered. I cannot begin to explain the toll this has taken on me. This was NOT necessary had I been correctly and honestly informed and educated about this modification review process. My credit rating has always been and will continue to be, very important to me. Can anyone help? Maybe Wells Fargo needs some NEGATIVE press time? I have documentation and correspondence.
