I had Purchased a 180GB Western Digital Hard Drive from a reatiler and Installed it on my computer, It ran fine for 9 months and began to click and crash constantly So I emailed WD Support NO Responses Came of it I emailed Customer support and still Nothing I called and was switched from tech support to Customer Service like a pinball Until I finally called the HQ And was asked for a credit card number for an Advanced replcement Hard drive.

They Shipped me a Remanufactured 200GB Hard drive to replace the defective drive I installed the Remanufactured Hard drive and shipped My Old one back to WD.

Within 3 days of installing it I already had Errors in the system showing this drive was not being recognized then it would work fine and about 30 days later would crash causing me to lose all my data.

I sent Several Requests for support and again No Response WD talks about Award Winning Support But Where are they hiding at since they dont want to honor their warranty Since The Last request was sent WD has Made no Attempt to replace this drive and I just found out the 1 Year Warranty on my 180GB Hard Drive Had 3 Months left and this Replacement Only came with a short 2 month warranty so Is it Just that you pay $300 for a Product and try like hell to get it replaced to recieve a drive that was returned before and sent to you as a "NEW" drive and have your system fail while they make money off defective hard drives

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Use the right channels to file an RMA

AUTHOR: solomojo - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2011

I build 15+ computers per year and use Western Digital hard drives exclusively. They are the most reliable hard drives on the market. When the 1% or 2% do fail I go to: http://support.wdc.com/warranty/index.asp?wdc_lang=en then put in the serial number, explain what is wrong and the RMA is created. They cross ship the drive so I get the new one before sending the old one back. It works very smoothly every time. I believe the issue that this customer ran into is he/she did not follow the normal path for warranty replacements. Instead he/she just called customer service.

WD HQ Responds to Hard Drive warranty

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Today Was the final Straw In requesting Support for this Hard drive after I called the Basic Support Number (800)275-4932 And was told there would be a 15 minute wait for help.
I finally Called WD Corp HQ at (949)672-7000 And waited for the operator I asked to Speak to a Consumer Relations Employee And was Connected.
I told this Person My Name and why I was calling and that i requested Support For Their Defective Product.
He Took My Information And Promptly told me to throw the 200GB drive away and issued me an Advanced RMA# and said A New 250GB was on its way.
When your Normal Support Lines wont help try calling the HQ and asking for a solution to the issue I Am Proud WD Stood Behind their Product And Offered a Replacement.
