In the past 2 months I ordered for myself 4 multifocal glasses from Zenni.
Please bear with me: I must discuss perscription & cost for this report to be significant.
The perscription is almost identical in all 4 orders: right eye +3.50 (orders 1-2) or 3.75 (orders 3-4); left eye +1.75 (all 4); both eyes - Add +2.50.
All orders include AR coating.
Order #1 is clear, rimless frame. Total is $88.
Order #2 is 80% dark. Total is $47. I didn't like the frame on me, so:
Order #3 is also 80% dark. Total is $79.
Order #4 is photochromic. RIMLESS FRAME AND LENS SHAPE IDENTICAL TO ORDER #1. Total for this order is $110.
Note that Orders #1 and #4 are some of the more expensive items one can order from Zenni. They would likely cost much more in the mall - but they are not dirt cheap glasses by any standard.
The thickness of the right lens in Orders #2 and #3 is pretty standard.
For some reason, the right lens in Order #1 is fairly thick; still tolerable.
The right lens in Order #4 (identical to #1 !!) is intolerably thick - I just cannot use it.
I am advised to return it to Zenni for a 50% refund - which I will do tomorrow.
I will lose on this order $80 (50% of $110 + $25 S&H - I live in Israel).
I find Zenni's "Satisfaction Guaranteed" a joke, bordering on a ripoff.
Lens thickness in multifocals is not revealed by Zenni. My case shows that there's a wide variation even in identical glasses (I tooks photos - send email to (((RPR removed for security purposes))) and I'll email the photos back).
There's no way to anticipate this issue - it's just a risk that you should be aware of. Never happened to me in the mall - they were always willing to redo the work if it came out faulty.
I hope that this report will be helpful to others.
