Delivered a new dining room table/chairs on 5/24/13.  The purchase included a one year warranty against manufactured defects.  Warranty does not cover:  misue, abuse, accidents, discoloration caused by sunlight or abnormal wear and fading.

Notified customer service on 1/29/14 that the edging along the middle of the table was coming off in an area of about 2 inches (unglued).  They sent a technician to inspect the table on 2/4/14.  The technician took pictures and tried to reattach the area using a hot tool (which should heat up the old existing glue).  His attempt did not correct the problem.  He stated that he would do a report and Rooms To Go would contact me regarding the next step.

To date, 3/12/14 never received any notification from them regarding what the next step was or what would be done about the situation as the technician was not able to get it to reattach.  When I called them 3/12/14, the automated phone system states press 1 for English and then provides you with 3 otions for various departments.  Department 3 is to speak to a representative.  I chose option 3 and was connected to a customer service representative who informed me that the warranty did not cover damage caused in the home by the homeowner and that based upon their determination of such, is why no one ever contacted me.  I tried to explain the situation to her and then heard her the system on to record the call.  She never once informed me that the call was being recorded or ask my authorization to record it.  I informed her that I wanted to speak to a supervisor.

I was transferred to a supervisor named Steven.  I explained the situation to him and he stated as well tha their warranty wouldn't cover the damage because it would have had to be there when the furniture was delivered and that it would have had to be reported within the first 48 hours.........in other words there really is no one year warranty.

I then informed him that my previous phone conversation was recorded without disclosure or approval.  He stated that all their calls are recorded for quality assurance.  I informed him that the customers had to be notified of that in advance.  He stated that is was on their recording and he was sorry that I must of missed hearing it.  I assured him that it was not on there and requested that his Quality Assurance Department review the phone call and they would clearly see that no disclosure was made and that I wanted assurance that this would be corrected.  He stated well this phone call is being recorded.  I informed him that I understand that however it did not alleviate the issue with the previous phone call being recorded without my approval or disclosure.  I stated that it is against the law.  He agreed and responded with "yes" and that he would check in to it.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt that maybe I had not heard the disclosure, I immediately called back.  The automated answering service again did not disclose in any fashion that the calls are being recorded.  A customer service representative came on the phone and asked for my name, address, issue, etc.  I asked her if this call was being recorded.  She stated "I believe so".  I informed her that it was not disclosed in the automated answering system prior to the conversation and that infact she had not informed me either and that I had to specifically ask her of which she really didn't even know.  I asked to speak to a supervisor regarding this as it is against the law and needs to be corrected.

She placed me on hold for a lengthly amount of time and then informed me that Patricia was unavailable and would have to call me back.  I confirmed by phone number with her.  I've received no return phone call from anyone at Rooms To Go regarding them violation my rights or providing me assurance that this procedure would be corrected.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced within our customer service office. Our calls are recorded randomly, and the calls that are selected to be recorded, do have the prerecorded disclosure. We have though forwarded your comments to our phone support team. Also, I would be glad to look over your account regarding the dining table coming unglued. Please email me your info to Tellus@Roomstogo.com "Attention Ripoff Report". Again I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and we do hope to better serve you in the future.
