On 11/10/2019 went online to get a battery from Pep Boys.

Their online system showed the battery I needed at a service shop close to me. Address was 5029 Floyd rd Mableton, ga. The printed reciept says I can go and pick up the batter now.

I arrive at the shop and show them my reciept showing I did the payment online and that the battery was ready to pick up. They counter lady says she has no idea why the reciept says to pick up the battery because she does not have it in stock. ???

I said I assumed the computer system checks the inventory and that they should have it. She shows me her computer screen that says the battery will be delivered to her from a warehouse/distribution center. Odd though that there is no parts run to her shop on this day (Sunday).

But she says hold on and she will check the inventory in the back of the shop. Low and behold she comes back with a very old and dirty battery and says "here it is". The mechanic next to her gets a rag and starts cleaning the battery up.

Me, wondering why the battery is so bad looking, I pull ff the plastic terminal covers and the terminal posts clearly show this battery has been installed and used already. She looked and agreed that it was a used battery  but said she did not realize it when she tried to give it to me. I told her I was not accepting a used bettery.

So she calls the next nearest store and confirms with them that they have that model battery in stock. She tells me to go over there and finish the transaction. I ask if we can process my core so I dont have to carry it around anymore and she says no her computer is frozen.

So I go up the road to the next shop at 3829 Austell Rd Austell,GA 30106 (770) 739-1095 to pick up the battery I have already paid for.

I get over there and talk to the counter lady there and she says no I have to go home and cancel the original order and then reorder online for this store. I asked why I was sent over to the send store then? Service manager who was the one that was on the phone to the first store says the order can be transfered in via their phone help line. Lady at the desk huffs and puffs about having to transfer the orer but does do it. We wait for the transfered order to post on their system and she goes and gets the battery.

She then rings up the battery and asks for payment. I show my paid reciept and she says no to it.???? I told her I was not going to pay twice for a battery. She says then I get no battery. Turns out she was transfered from another store into one that was liquidating so she was in a dead end position. She is useless and mouthy.

Calls me an old man on veterans day weekend. I am a US vet. This is clearly age discrimination. When I ask to speak to the manager she says she is the manager and that she is calling the cops if I do not leave the store. I tell her fine. Call them. She then says she is going to instruct the other workers to no process my order and she leaves the store.

At this point the service manager comes over and clears the original order out, sells me the battery and a pay at the counter. The key is the original payment had to be cleared out or I would have paid twice. The service manager says the other lady is not good at certain processes on the register but he can fix it.

So I get home and call Pep Boys customer service. I report that it was rediculous that the online transaction was no good, that I had to travel to a second store, got a pile of crap from the second store manager after the attemp to sell me a used battery at the first store, and that I had been subjected to age discrimination at the second store. Overall clearly BAD customer service all the way around.

I am given a claim number of 682579 and am told I will get a call from a manager to discuss the issues. Wl=ell the failure to provide good or even reasonable customer service continued. For the next 4 weeks I call once a week to find out who was going to call me. NO ONE CALLED! Some how in the computer notes for the complaint the manager says he called me and I refused to answer the phone. I left 2 nombers. Both have voice mail. No messages.

So finally I call and they say if I do not get a call in the next 3 days Imy compliant will be escalated up to another level to be worked on.  I call beck 3 day later (it is now 12/3/2019) and the cstomer service phone guy says the claim has been closed??????

The same manager that lied about calling me closed the complaint. Dead end. A so called manager cannot leave a "Were sorry" message on an answering machine/ voice mail? Poor business all the way around.
