Pep Boys Their brakes failed and then told me I should have gone somewhere else Orlando Florida

*Consumer Comment: Pep Boys Their brakes failed and then told me I s...

In June of this year, my ABS, ASC and check engine light came on in my car. I had an oil change due, so I took it to the Pep Boys at 71 S. Semoran Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32807. In addition to getting the oil changed, I explained to them that I was concerned about my lights and I would like them to check my engine, my brakes, anything that might explain why the lights were on. I got a call after a few hours to inform me that my car was ready to be picked up. When I asked about the lights, the employee told me that everything was running perfectly. He said that the light was probably just going bad but there was nothing to fix and absolutely nothing to worry about.

Fast forward to two months later, I was driving to work at 7:00 a.m. and I went to press on my brakes when, out of nowhere, they failed and I smashed into the car in front of me. I got the car towed to the same Pep Boys off of Semoran, where I told them that my brakes failed and caused me to get into an accident. I again told them that I had the same lights on that I had 2 months ago. After hours of me calling them repeatedly to determine the cause, they were able to "guess" that it was the ABS speed sensor.

When I spoke to the manager about the fact that his own employees negligently failed to recognize my problem, the manager Eddie's response was that I should have gone to a different automotive repair shop. I said to him, "why should I not have had faith in your employees when they told me nothing was wrong?" His response was "you could have taken it elsewhere. Don't blame us, it was bound to happen at any time." Given that his mechanics specifically told me the lights were fine and that there weren’t any issues, why would it be bound to happen that my brakes would fail?!?!

Needless to say, I am absolutely horrified that Pep Boys (1) refuses to take responsibility for its own employees' negligence and (2) has the audacity to blame the customer and say "you should have gone somewhere else."
